Bishop Luxton who had recently visited Japan and India. He wrote that India had a greater need of evangelism. The senior and junior choirs sang and white mums were used on the retable and a Christmas plant was placed by Mrs. Ken Carter in memory of her father and in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lee. PATON CLANDEBOYE The Clandeboye WI held their December meeting at the home of Mrs. Ernie Lewis with the members answering the roll call by presenting gifts to be sent to the patients of Ontario Hospital for the Mental Health Association, London. Mrs. Charles Coughlin read the Christmas scripture story. Mrs. Karl O'Neil gave an interesting paper of the origin of Christmas carols, customs and how foreign lands celebrate and gave the royal recipe for Christmas pudding. Mrs. Coughlin gave ideas for gift decorations and Mrs. Alex Macintosh gave ideas for Christmas giving. Mrs. Roy Cunningham read a poem. A letter was read from girl in Rome that Lucan River- view and Clandeboye branches support. Donations of four dollars to War Memorial Hospital, Lon- don and two dollars for CRIB were given. A box of fruit sent to a former member, Mrs. Hi- riam Thompson a patient in Exeter Nursing Home. The contest won by Mrs. Maurice Simpson. President Mrs. Alan Hill presided and conducted a geography contest. Mrs. M. Simpson,Mrs. Alex Macintosh and rs. Wilmer Scott served lunch. WITH THE CHURCHES At the Christmas service in the United Church the Rev. G. W. Sach spoke on "Drama or Revelation" and a girls' chorus sang two selections. Rev. E. 0. WHITE GIFT SERVICE The singing of Christm as carols with the junior choir in attendance formed the setting for a White Gift service held at Brinsley United Church Sun- day evening Dec. 13. Lighted Christmas trees both inside and `outside the church added greatly to the candlelight ser- vice. The Sunday School assisted the Rev. John Davies with the service. Pat Hodgson capably gave the Christmas story ',A little Story with a big meaning". All white gifts were presented to the Salvation Army and grate- fully received, which will be distributed to the n e e d y at Christmas. The program consisted of dialogues, skits, readings, recitations, guit ar and piano selections and solos. Santa arrived to distribute the gifts off the Christmas tree which was heavily laden. The Sunday School party for St. Marys Chuch was held in the church basement Friday evening. A short concert was given which included an amusing sketch taken from the well- known story Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. The rector, Rev. R. G. Jack- son, expressed appreciation to Mrs. Don Sutherland and Mrs. Don Scott for their work as teachers. The highlight of the evening was the visit of Santa Claus to distribute presents off the Christmas tree. Lunch was served by members of the La- dies Guild.
