the devotional. A Christmas
service will be held in the
auditorium of Hensall United
Church at 7:30 pm December
20. This is open to the public
to hear the message of Christ-
mas.
A film was shown which was
called "The Champs of Sports".
Eric Ross and Dave Brock led
in a discussion about semi-
classical, popular and spiritual
music. Ted Mock andJoanSim-
mons led in three games.

The executive of UCW unit 4
was in charge of the Christmas
meeting held Thursday after-
noon and presided over by Mrs.
James McAllister. "Advent"
was used as the theme of the
meeting.
Christmas carols under di-
rection of Miss Greta Lammie
were sung with Mrs. T. J.
She r r itt accompanist. Mrs.
Laird Mickle favoured with pi-
ano selections. The devotional
was taken by Mrs. W. H.
Weeks, Mrs. Albert Alexander,
Mrs. Stanley Mitchell and Mrs.
W. B. Cross. Mrs. McAllister
gave the study, a Christmas
story, "By Invitation of Jesus".
During the business session
the bale was discussed when it
was disclosed to the meeting
that one carton of good used
clothing had been forwarded to
Dr. Margaret Whiting, Hazel-
ton, B.C. one carton to the
Salvation Army, London; and
several to Toronto for overseas
relief.
Mrs. McAllister reported of
the executive meeting held at
her home recently when they
decided to carry on for another
year. Mrs. McAllister express-
ed courtesy remarks,
Lodge enjoys
Christmas fete
Twenty nine members attend-
ed the Christmas meeting and
party of Amber Rebekah Lodge
held in the lodge hall last Wed-
nesday evening. Noble Grand
Mrs. J. F. Ingram presided.
Donations were voted to the
War Memorial Children's Hos-
pital, London, and Childrens
Shelter, Goderich.
At the conclusion of the meet-
ing a Christmas program was
presented including Christmas
carols, readings by Miss Mettle
Ellis and Mrs. Alex McBeath.
Members exchanged gifts and
enjoyed lunch.
Win Hay school election
These four men were elected by Hay Township voters on Mon-
day to sit on the Hay Township school area board. They are all
present members of the board and will be joined by Hensall's
two representatives, Clendon Christie and Robert Rowcliffe,
as well as Dr. Garnet Leitch, representing Zurich. The four
men from the left, as they were photographed listening to
speeches at the Hay nomination are: Elmer Rowe, Ian McAllister,

Six Brownies were enrolled in
the 1st Hensall Brownie Pack
by District Commissioner Mrs.
Thom as Lavender, Hensall.
They were Janie Heal, Joan
Allan, Joan Goddard, Mary Lou
Scott, Patty Van Wieren and
Diane Chuter.
After the enrollment playlet,
Mrs. Lavender took the Brown-
ies on an imaginery trip to
A.ustraila; she displayed num-
erous articles received from
her Australian pen pal.
Brownies also enjoyed a
hockey game directed by Mrs.
Barry Jackson and a Christmas
story told by Mrs. Rodger Ven-
ner. At the close of the meeting
Mrs. Lavender took the salute.

The draw for two Christmas
cakes, annual project of the
Hensall Kinette Club, took place
Saturday evening in Taylor's
Ready To Wear store and the
winners announced. They are
Mrs. Parker Campbell, Wing-
ham, Miss Linda Koehler, Hen-
salt. Mrs. Campbell is the
mother of Kinette Mrs. Ron
Wareing.

week for Churchill, Manitoba,
after spending several weeks

in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Eighteen members of Hensall
Kinsmen Club canvassed the
village Thursday evening and
sold 240 boxes of peanuts, with
proceeds for service work.

East WI will be held at the
home of Mrs. Ernest White-
house Wednesday December 16
at 2 pm.
Mrs. Chester Lee has re-
turned ho m e from Stratford
General Hospital where she was
a patient having undergone eye
surgery.

The Hay Township board has
also advertised for a secretary-
treasurer, Don O'Brien, prin-
cipal at Zurich, is filling in
until a permanent replacement
can be found.
Two new teachers will be
commencing duties at the school
in January. They are Mrs. Earl
Deichert and Mrs. Earl Horner.
They will be replacing Mrs.
Earl Oesch and Mrs. J. K.
Newby, who have resigned from
the staff.

At a meeting of the Hay
Township school area board,
Wednesday, the tender of Frank
Van Bussel & Sons Ltd., Lucan,
was accepted for construction of
the addition planned for the
school in Zurich.
The lowest of five tenders,
the Lucan firm's price was
$127,161. It was about $1,700
less than the second low price
and was some $12,000 lower
than the highest of the five.
It is not known when con-
struction will start, but com-
pletion date has been set for
August 15.

Mrs. Otto Smale of Glencoe,
formerly of Hensall, is a patient
in Strathroy General Hospital
suffering with a fractured leg
caused from a fall in her home
last Friday.

direction of Mrs. Robert Rea-
burn, Mrs. Edison Forrest and
Mrs. Ron Mock met separately
in the church Sunday School
rooms Monday evening to com-
plete the various business of
the year. Following the business
period the units combined for a
Christmas program and social
hour together.
Mrs. Forrest chaired the
meeting opening with a Christ-
mas verse, scripture passages
were read by Mrs. Reaburn
and the devotional by Mrs.
Mock.
Christmas carols were sung
with Mrs. Wm. Fuss accom-
panist, and a reading by Mrs.
Doug Cook was enjoyed. Re-
freshments were served.
