held Thursday afternoon at, the
home of Mrs. Emily Tomes.
The WA president, Mrs. Andy

Wilfred Cunningham. An appeal
for cardigans and dresses for
junior girls of the Mohawk In-
stitute was received the mater-
ials to be supplied to make
the same.

socks were handed in and later
to be forwarded to Rev, Teines
for his mission. The secretary
treasurer, Mrs. Karl O'Neil,
gave a financial report of the
year showing a good year with

Agriculture School at Ridge-
town. He received the Middlesex
County Scholarship for out-
standing student from the Coun-
ty of $100, and the St. Clair
Grain and Feed prize for high
student in field husbandry of
$25.

explained that ARDA meant
"Agriculture Rehabilitation and
Development Act and that it was
a joint effort by both the pro-
vincial and dominion govern-
ments. The aim is to set up a
rural•development area in each
county.

Mrs. Walter O'Brien gave the
courtesy remarks. Lunch was
served.

Mrs. Ed. Channel was hostess
for the agriculture and Canadian
industries meeting of the Staffa
WI held in her home Wednesday
evening, November 25.
Mrs. Walter O'Brien pre-
sented a paper on the motto "If
you plant a seed of character
in the home it will bloom in the
community". Mrs. Ross Smale
had as her special number a
display of Canadian-made pro-
ducts encouraging everyone to
"buy Canadian". There were
16 members and one visitor
present and the roll call was
answered by naming an industry
of Hibbert Township.
Mrs. Roy McDonald reported
on the Institute's trip to Monk-
ton and Miss Vera Hambley re-
ported on the dessert course
which Staffa WI enjoyed along
with Dublin WI. Miss Hambley
reported that a box had been
packed and sent to the Institutes'
adopted child and all those who
hadn't contributed were asked

The Young People of Lucan
and Clandeboye are trying to
raise money by holding a car
wash at the FinaService Station
Lucan, Saturday, Dec. 5 from
10 to 4 p.m.
The money is to help keep
their adopted orphan, a 10-
year-old boy in Indo-China.

Last Monday night the Strath-
roy pee wee bantams and pee
wee teams of the Shamrock
league were visitors to the
Lucan teams and they won both
games. The pee wees won by a
score of 5-3 and the bantams
won by a score of 8-4. In the
South Middlesex League in the
first game it was Byron over
Lucan, G & G over Ballymote,
and Ailsa Craig over Lambeth.
We had another very suc-
cessful weekend here at the
centre with our usual Saturday
night dance back tq normal and
a good turn out for public skat-
ing both Saturday night and
Sunday afternoon.
Last but not least, the Lu-
can Ilderton combines host the
Seaforth team here at the arena
Friday night. Game time is
8:30 pm and get this! admission
is FREE for this game, so, come
on out and watch these two
teams go at it.
