It was also the 17th anniversary of the Huron County group. R. O. Bennett, a former Huron agricultural representative, and now assistant deputy minister of agriculture, was the guest speaker. He is shown here chatting with Marilyn Marshall, Kirkton, president of the Huron Junior Farmers, and Maurice Love, Exeter, a provincial director representing Huron. SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR A successful bazaar and tea was held Saturday afternoon at St. James Church eponsored by the Ladies Guild. The rec- tor, the Rev. E. 0. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster and President Mrs. Jim Cunningham welcom- ed the guests and opened the bazaar. The table of home baked goods looked attractive with its var- iety of celors, decorated cakes and goodies, pies, tarts, cook- ies, homemade bread and buns and Christmas puddings. It was convened by Mrs. Ernie Lewis, Mrs. Arthur Cunningham and Mrs. Alan Hill. Farmer's store with vege- tables, apples, chicken, pickles, peppers, bulbs, pumpkin was cOnvened by Mrs. Wilfred Cun- ningham; candy convenors were Misses Nancy Hill, Ellen Whit- more; tickets, Mrs. Emily Tomes and Mrs. Cecil Carter. In the EUB church it was Men's Day and Mr. Stephen Dundas was chairman for both services. In the morning the special feature was a men's choir and at the evening the guest speaker was Mr. Ross Wein who spoke and showed slides on his recent trip to Africa on Operation Crossroads Africa. In the United Church Rem- embrance Day was observed with a brief period of remem- bering also those who had been faithful members in the church life and had passed away dur- ing recent years. In the Sunday School session pupils and teachers also had the privilege of sharing the experiences of Mr. Ross Wein on his trip. ness. FOR LEAGUE ACTION WED 60 YEARS A native of Crediton, Mr. Charles E. Lamport and his wife celebrated their 60th wed- ding anniversary recently at Squamish, B.C. Leaving Crediton as a young man, Mr. Lamport was married in 1904 in Flint, Mich. and settled on a homestead in Sas- katchewan. They left in 1912 and the next year took up residence in Squamish where both were active in community affairs. They have one son and nine daughters, 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
