DESJARDINE'S ORCH,
LETTERS T EDITOR
Agreed
Dear Sir:
I have just read your fine
editorial in respect to the rowdy
weekend crowd at Grand Bend.
It's a pleasure to record that
I am very much in agreement
with your basic premise and
conclusions.
This is a request for a copy
of the October 22 issue - or of
the editorial itself whichever
is most convenient for you.
This will be prescribed reading
for my two teen-age daughters.
I am sure we are among
many parents who share your
view that 20th Century society
so-called has seen a pattern
which encourages selfish pur-
suit of pleasure by parents with
a corresponding lessening of the
great responsibilities which go
with parenthood,
We don't need juvenile courts;
we need courts for parents who
have no time no patience -
perhaps even no real affection
for Juveniles.
Congratulations on c le a r 1 y
stating a viewpoint so fully
supported by facts. We are
truly moving toward a decadent
society and we would be naive
indeed to think that we can
blame our children for that,
Faithfully yours,
John Goad, Branch Manager
Paul Revere Life Insurance Co.

Elam W, Shantz, RR 3 Zurich,
was charged under the Masters
and Servants Act with failing to
pay an employee, Marvin Mc-
Adam, some $53 for wages
while he was working for Shantz.
McAdam, who was represent-
ed by Goderich lawyer James
Donnelly, told the court he had
been employed by Shantz to
drive a truck at a rate of $1.00
per hour-to be paid weekly.
He said he had only been
paid the sum of $25 for time
put in during one week, but
that he should have been paid
another $53.00.
Shantz told the court he paid
his employee the week following
the week the work was done,
and before this was done, Mc-
Adam had left and found work
elsewhere.
Shantz said he thought an
employee must give notice of
quitting and cited this as the
reason for not paying the bal-
ance of the wages.
The Goderich lawyer pointed
out there was no substance in
the "not giving notice" aspect
of the case.
Mr. Hays ordered the balance
of wages to be paid.
In other cases:
Calvin Kellerman, 16, Dash-

JOHNS - In loving memory of
a dear husband, father and
grandfather, Lloyd Johns,
who passed away two years
ago, Oct. 27, 1962.
God knew he was suffering,
He knew that he was in pain;
He knew that he would never
In this world be well again;
He saw the road was getting
rough,
The hills were hard to climb;
So he closed his weary eyelids,
And whispered, peace be thine.
- Lovingly remembered by his
wife Gladys and family. 29*

PFAFF -In loving memory of
my dear wife, Thelma who
passed away, Oct. 29, 1962.
Treasured thoughts of one so
dear,
Often bring a silent tear;
Thoughts return to scenes long
past,
Years roll on but memories
last.
- Ever remembered by Henry.
