A pot luck supper opened the
first meeting of the fall season
of Hensall WI in the Legion
Hall last Wednesday when 32
members answered the roll call
with "Sing-Say or Pay.
President Mrs. Beverly Bea-
ton conducted the meeting, Mrs.
John Skea and Mrs. R. A. Orr
were appointed voting delegates
for the County Rally to be held
in Herisall United Church Octo-
ber 5. Mrs. Fred Beer and
Mrs. Wilbert Dilling were ap-
pointed for the registration;

They will reside in Hensall.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored at several
functions. Mrs. Rodger Veinier
entertained at a miscellaneous
shower; Miss Diane Reid of
Mrs. Jack Drysdale was hos-
tess last Wednesday for the first
Kinette meeting of the fall sea-
son with 100% attendance.
New president Mrs. John
Baker presided and presented
a gift to retiring presidentMrs,
John Deitz on behalf of the club.
Plans were made for the
annual fall rummage sale Sat-
urday, October 17. The next
meeting will be a joint instal-
lation of Kinsmen and Kinettes
Thursday, September 24.
For the social portion of the
meeting prizes were won by
Mrs. Harold Knight, Mrs. Wil-
liam Clement, Mrs. Jim Hyde. Wins in two divisions

Mrs. Harold Currie and Mrs.
Stanley Mitchell brought high-
lights from the UCW conference
held at Alma College the past
summer which they attended as
delegates from the organiza-
tion.
During the business pertod
mention was made concerning
a regional meeting to be held
in Centralia October 23, also the
annual snowflake bazaar to be
held Saturday, November 28.
Next general meeting will be
in charge of unit 4 and will be
held Tuesday evening, October
13.

performed the wedding cere,
mony, Traditional wedding mu-
sic was played by the chtireh
organist Mrs. Malcolm Deugall.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride was lovely in
a floor length gown of white
norganza, fashioned with a fitted
torso bodice blended to a scoop
neckline set off with appliques
of guipure lace and pearls, and
long lily point sleeves. The full
skirt was gathered up with self
material roses throughout the
skirt. An elbow length French
illusion veil was held in place
with arose tiara and she carried
a bridal bouquet of red roses
and white mums.

Reid, cousin of the bride, and
bridesmaid, Mrs. Jean TurveY,
sister of the groom, of Hensall,
were gowned identically in royal
blue ballerina length brocade
gowns fitted at waist and blended
to round neckline. The control-
led skirt had an exposed pleat
centre front and self material
rose. They wore matching hats
and carried bouquets of shaded
blue and white mums.

brother of the groom, was best
Robert Taylor, Hensall, walked off with two honors in the annual
Hensel]. School Fair held in the arena, Tuesday. His dog was
judged best in its class and then his rabbits came through with
flying colors in their division. Competition was keen in all
classes at the event and ,a good crowd was on hand to view the

Mrs. Edwin Miller where they

Boy rewarded
for honest deed
Friday last Billy Hoy, 12, of
Hensall, while walking past the
telephone booth at the town hall
noticed a purse lying in the
booth and, upon opening it, dis-
covered it contained $60 in cash,
drivers license and personal
papers belonging to Mrs. Percy
Webster of Hensall.
Billy immediately returned
the purse to Mrs. Webster who
was very distraught over her
loss but very happy to have it
returned to her. Billy, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy, was
rewarded for his honesty.
Fred Pridham of Mt. Pleasant,
who had been to the School for
Leaders at St. Thomas, her
theme being "Is our idea of God
big enough? Are we ready and
willing to try to get the true
picture of God that Christ tried
to reveal?"
Award proves
lad's fish tale
Bryan Fink, 16, Hensall,
while vacationing at Restoule,
near North Bay, at Campbell
Eyre's camp was successful in
catching a musky, 51 inches
long weighing 32 1/4 pounds.
It was the largest fish caught
in that area in two years. Bryan
was presented with the Labatt
award by the gamewarden for
his catch. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Fink,

and opened the meeting with a

favored with a piano solo.
During the business period
plans were laid for the fowl
supper to be held on October

small attendance.

Roy's UCW meeting was held
at the home of Mrs. Andrew
Christie. Mrs. Norman Dow
opened the meeting with a read-
ing.
The worship service was
taken by Mrs. R. McPhail, Mrs.
N. Dow, Mrs. Cliff Dow and
Mrs. M. Christie, from Word
and Way "The Bible and the
Word of God" and prayer by
Mrs. John Hocking. Miss Janice
Christie favored with an in-
strumental.
