hold decoration
Hensall Fire Department
were called to a fire four miles
east of Hensall in sborne
Township Saturday afternoon
but were unable to save a large
outboard motor boat owned by
Laverne Hamilton, of Seaforth.
Loss was estimated by Mr.
Hamilton at over $1,000.
He was driving a truck draw-
ing the boat on a trailer to the
home of his father, Mr. Gordon
Hamilton, RR 1 Hensall, when
he noticed flames shooting up
from the boat as high as tele-
phone wires and he called the
fire dept.
Mr. Hamilton, who had just
completed overhauling the beat,
thinks the fire started from a
short.

Grace United Church, Port
Dover, was the setting for a
lovely wedding Saturday, August
15 at 3;30 pm when Sharon
Elizabeth Scruton, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Scruton,
Port Dover, formerly of Hen-
sail, became the bride of Gor-
don Wayne Roberts, son of Mr.
and Mrs. G. H. Roberts of RR 3
Simcoe.
Rev. H. Gray Rivers of Bur-
lington, performed the double
ring ceremony amid a floral
background of gladioli and dais-
ies, Mrs. Ella Craig, Port
Dover, provided wedding music
and accompanied the soloist
Mr. John McKinley, who sang
"The We dding Prayer" and
"I'll Walk Beside You".
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a gown of
faille taffeta, with long lily
point sleeves and Italian scoop
neckline. Fragile Chantilly lace
worked into a lattice effect
punctuated by tiny bows, on the
controlled skirt finds its own
echo on the scalloped lace edg-
ing the detachable train. A pill-
box of white taffeta held an
illusion finger-tip veil, and she
carried a bouquet of white or-
chids with stephanotis and ivy.
Maid of honor, Miss Margaret
Sturgeon of Port Dover, was
gowned in a blue shantung sheath
with overskirt, with a blue pill-
box headdress and carried a
nosegay of yellow roses and
white carnations. Bridesmaids,
Mrs. K. L, Stilwell, Hamilton,
sister of the bride, and Miss
Marilyn Roberts, Port Dover,
sister of the groom were gowned
identically to the maid of honor.
John Marsh, Port Dover was
best man, and John Roberts,

Ebenezer Cemetery held its
annual decoration memorial
Sunday, Aug. 16, The speaker
on the occasion was Rev. John
Davies of Ailsa Craig.
The family of the late Mrs.
Walter Morley received word of
the death of their uncle, James
Albert Jones of Heinsburg, Al-
berta, August 9. He was form-
erly of McGillivray Twp.
Mr. & Mrs. Murray Hamilton
and Anne returned home after
a pleasant trip to the west coast.
Mr. Kelly Robinson, Don and
Norman Lewis are busy ditching
at the farm of Mr. Grant Amos,
ray Scruton, brother of the
bride, ushered guests.
For the reception held at Cove
Room, Erie Beach Hotel for 90
guests, the bride's mother wore
a two piece suit of dusty pink
silk shantung and matching ac-
cessories with corsage of dusty
pink carnations. The groom's
mother chose a blue sheath of
shantung and lace jacket with
matching ;access -rips With
which she wore a corsage of
pink sweetheart roses.
For their honeymoon to New
England States the bride wore a
three-piece suit of silk worsted
in coffee shade and dark brown
accessories.
They will reside at RR 3
Simcoe.
Guests were present from
Brantford, Hamilton, Burling-
ton, Simcoe, Dresden, Kitch-
ener, Jarvis, Newm ar ke t,
Streetsville, Clinton and Hen-
sail.
Guests from Hensall were

tives and friends were in at-
tendance, Mrs. Stanley Mitchell

Mrs. Grace Harpole and Miss
Jarvis Peacock played a piano
duet. Miss Mettle Ellis favored
with a humorous reading. Mrs.
Betty Jean 1nghelram of De-
troit conducted a contest.
Mrs. James McAllister read
the address to the bride, who
was seated in a decorated chair.

Two pucksters
at Wing school
Michael Hoy and Grant Walk-
er are attending the Red Wing
Hockey School held at the Olym-
pia in Detroit for one week. The
school is well organized. The
boys receive instruction from
Gordie Howe and several of the
top Red Wing Stars. They have
supervised accommodation at
the YMCA which is close to the
Olympia.

church parlors the bride's mo-
ther chose a heavenly blue shan-
tung dress with navy and white
accessories and corsage of
white carnations. The groom's
mother chose a gold shantung
dress with brown accessories
and corsage of brown chrysan-
themums.
For travelling the bride
changed to a yellow linen suit
with brown accessories with
which she wore a corsage of
green cymbidium orchids.
They will reside in London.
The bride is a graduate of
London Teachers' College and
University of Western Ontario.
The groom is a graduate of
Queens University, Kingston,
and the University of Birm-
ingham, England.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was feted at several func-
tions. Miss Pat Brown, London,
was hostess for a shower. The
staff of Ryerson Public School,
London Elementary School, and
home economics teachers held
presentations.
A miscellaneous shower was
held in Hensall United Church,
and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Dill-
ing entertained the bridal party
at their home Friday evening
following rehearsal.
Rev. H. F. Currie officiated
at the wedding ceremony in
Hensall United Church Satur-
day, August 15, at 5 pm when
Wilma Bernice Dilling, Hen-
son, exchanged marriage vows
with Allan Theodore Olson of
London, amid a floral setting
of yellow and white gladioli,
ferns and candelabra.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C. Wilbert Dill-
Hensall, and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Emil T. Olson
and the late Mr. Olson, Graven-
burst.
Mr. James A. Townshend,
London, provided wedding mu-
sic and accompanied the soloist,
Mr. Arthur Dance, London, who
sang "The Wedding Prayer"
and "The Lord's Prayer."
A floor-length gown of white
French peau de faille was worn
by the bride who was given in
marriage by her father. The bo-
dice was highlighted by a shal-
low scooped neckline and elbow
length sleeves. The gently con-
trolled bell skirt was caught
in tiny pleats at either side of
the waist, a detachable chapel
train cascaded from the waist.
Delicate French guipure lace
appliques enhanced the bodice
and skirt. A French pure silk
illusion fingertip veil was
caught up by a wedding band
headpiece of peau de faille
touched with appliques of gui-
pure lace, and she carried a
crescent bouquet of white car-
nations, yellow roses and ivy,
Miss Connie Olson, Toronto,
sister of the groom, as maid of
honor, wore a cocktail dress of
sapphire blue crystal charm.
A shallow scooped neckline and
elbow length sleeves made way

Mrs. J. R. Murdoch has re-
turned from a trip to Toronto,
Hamilton and Kingston, taking
in the 1000 Island boat cruise
which was much enjoyed.
