Bob Nixon
— Continued from page 2
Therefore it is all the more
important that the Liberal s
must replace the confidence
that the Conservatives are los-
ing. We must state our case
clearly, with conviction and
principle in order to win."
That he is gaining supporters
for this forthright call to Lib-
erals to take heart and unite
for a real fight in the next
election is shown by pledges
received at the busy campaign
headquarters in St. George.
Nixon's first estimate of dele-
gate support was announced the
first week in August at 223 (out
of more than 1,200 delegates,
of whom only 450 had been
named at that time.) The esti-
mated total for Nixon has con-
tinued to grow upwards in the
following weeks.
Observers say his energetic,
buoyant confidence is beginning
to come through more effective-
ly as the convention date draws
near.
Whether or not Nixon's fam-
ily is enjoying the contest so
much remains to be seen. At
home on the farm at St. George,
where they seldom see their
father these days are his four
children, John 10, Jane 9, Harry
6, and Sara 5. "H oweve r,
they're all Nixon supporters."
says his wife Dorothy who often
accompanies her husband on
campaign trips."
