Dial switching equipment is now being installed in the new telephone buildings inbethHen- sail and Seaforth inpreparation for the introduction of dial tele- phone service in November, To provide for Hensall's tele- phone needs, equipment allow, ing for 1,200 terminals—each representing a telephone num- ber-,is being installed in the new building en the east side of Highway 4, In Seaforth, equipment pro- viding 2,000 terminals is being installed in the building on Chalk Street, All of the equipment being installed has been designed and manufactured to meet the speci- fic requirements of both Hensall and Seaforth, explained W. W. Haysom, Bell Telephone man- ager in this area. The installation work and testing of the equipment in both exchanges is being carried out by Northern Electric Company craftsmen. Referring to the many activi- ties surrounding the dial con- version, Mr. Haysom said all phases of the projects are pro- gressing according to schedule. One of the biggest jobs in- volves rebuilding and extending the outside wire and cable net- works serving the exchang e areas and adapting them for use under the dial system. By MRS. MCKELLAR REUNION The 24th McKellar Reunion was held in Seaforth Lions Park on August 2 with an attendance of 98. A picnic supper was Served by the committee in charge and a business meeting followed with the president, J. M. Scott, in charge. The secretary treasurer's report was read by Mrs. Car- lyle Meikle. The election of of- ficers for a two year term was as follows: president, Elmer Colquhoun; vice-president, Ev- erett Kerslake; sec-treas. Mrs. John Drake; lunch committee, Mr. and Mrs. G. Hoggarth, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott, Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Russell; Sports, Mr. and Mrs. Reg Find- layson, Mr. and Mrs. Laurie McKellar; registration, Mrs. Sadie Scott, Mrs. George Wal- lace. Races and relays were en joyed by young and old. Prizes went to Mrs. Sadie Scott, for oldest person; Jackie Hough- ton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Houghton, for youngest child; largest family, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Houghton with eight; guessing the beans, Dennis Dun- can. It was decided to hold the 1965 reunion at the Seaforth Lions Park the first Sunday in August. 1 • teve,-14, Former Hensall man fathers bowlers When the final awards were handed out in the St. Catharines family summer ten pin league, a for- iner Hensall man, Vernon Hedden, and his family had walked off with top honors. The five keglers copped no less than eight trophies for individual performances that ranged from high singles to high triples and averages. Standing beside Vernon from the left are: daughter, Pat; daughter-in-law, Verla; and sons, Earl and Bob. The latter was born in Hensall. Dad led his team with a sparkling 238 single. Friends shower area bride-elect Sixty neighbors and friends honored Miss Bernice pilling, bride-elect of this week with a miseellaneous shower of gifts in the school room of Henson United Church. Miss Deanna Forrest played several piano instrumentals. Mrs. Currie favored with a vocal solo accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Frank Forrest who also played piano instru- mentals. A humorous mock wedding was presented with the follow- ing taking part: Mrs. Ken Mac- Lean and Gwen, Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy, Mrs. Stanley Mitchell, Mrs. Ross Forrest, Dianna and Nancy; Mrs. Murray T r a quai r and Nancy; airs. Wilmer Dalrymple and Wilma. The bride-elect was seated in a decorated chair, Mrs. Ross Forrest read the accompanying address, Mrs. Ken MacLean and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell pre- sented the gifts. Mrs. Miller of Staffa and Mrs. Ross Forrest assisted the bride in opening the gifts. Misses Amy and Greta Lara- mie are holidaying for a week at Lake Joseph Holiday Centre. Mr. & Mrs. Sam Armstrong of Longueuil, P.Q. have return- ed after a delightful two weeks vacation spent with their daugh- ter and son-in-law LAC Clar- ence Hoy, Mrs. Hoy, Ronnie and Gary of Exeter. During their vacation they spent a week at a cottage at Port Albert, leaving Sunday August 2 for Montreal. Garnet Allan is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London, re- ceiving treatment for an in- jured left hand received in an accident when a grain hoist fell on his hand, crushing it. The end of his middle finger was removed and he will be in hospital for 2 weeks. 64 MERCURY BIGGAR RE UNION The Biggar reunion was held at Hesshaven Cottage in the Pinery with eighty members of the clan attending from Glen- coe, Corunna, Watford, Forest, Strathroy, Plat t svi Ile, New Hamburg, Baden, London, and Hensall. Sports for the children and adults were a feature of the event and the prize for the oldest person present went to Mr. John Hoist of Baden. Miss Marcia Little of Hen- sall, one of 12 girl guides of the girl guide association of Ontario and two leaders left Toronto Tuesday by train for a three week's vacation in Van- couver.
