A dinner was served for the
immediate family Saturday noon
at the home of their nephew, Mr.
and Mrs. Emerson Coleman,
RR, 3 Seaforth, open house fol-
lowed in the eveningalseSunday
afternoon and evening when a
host of friends and relatives
called to offer good wishes and
felicitations.
They were the recipients of
many letters and congratulatory
Cards including a telegram
from Mr, and Mrs. Donald Mc,
Gill and two sons from Burstall,
Sask, Mrs, McGill is a grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oke.
Guests were received by their
daughter Mrs. Stewart (Carrie)
Cudmore, London.
Guests attended from London,
Clinton, Walton, Seaforth, Kip-
pen, Crediton, Varna, Bruce-
field, Zurich, Mitchell, Grand
Bend and Hensallo
They were the recipients of
many lovely gifts. A unique
incident was that the china din-
ner set which Mrs. Oke had
received as a gift from her
parents prior to her marriage
June 3, 1914 was used that day
on the dinner table, and was
also used June 6, 1964 on the
table for their fiftieth wedding
dinner with scarcely any mis-
sing pieces.

Minister's wife

Mrs. Margaret M. Keys died
Friday, June 19, at the Welland
Nursing Home. She was the
former Margaret Ross, wife of
the late Rev. Dr. J. Melvin
Keys, and was born in the
Seaforth district.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. Ross (Mildred) Orr, and
three granddaughters Deborah,
Barbara and Cheryl, St. Cath-
arines; two sisters, Mrs. Jake
(Lillian) Broome, Mrs. John
(Norma) Byermann, Seaforth;
two brothers, Charles A, Ross,
Searsport, Maine; Malcolm F.
Rochester, Mich.
Her husband, who predeceas-
ed her in 1962, served as min-
ister at charges at Arthur, St.
Marys, Shakespeare, retiring to
London.
Public funeral services were
held from the Bonthron Funeral
Home, Hensall, Monday, June
22 conducted by Rev. Murdock
Morrison of Varna United
Church. Burial was in Hayfield
cemetery.

gasbord supper held in the Uni-
ted Church Wednesday, June 24.

Mrs. Mary Taylor was host-
ess at her home last Tuesday
evening for the meeting of the
WA of St. Paul's Anglican
Church, with president Mrs.
P. J. Gandon presiding.
Plans for the fall order ba-
zaar to be held early in Octo-
ber were made, when order ar-
ticles will be on display.
The ladies of St. Pauls as-
sisted with the ham and straw-
berry supper held Thursday
evening in TrivItt Memorial
Hall, Exeter.

the Lodge Hall. They conducted
the opening and closing exer-

Rebekah picnic will be held at
Riverview Park Exeter, Sunday
afternoon June 28.
Members enjoyed an evening
of entertainment of euchre and

45th wedding anniversary Sat-
urday night, when all the mem-
bers of their family gathered
at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich,
for a dinner In their honor.
Mr. and Mrs. Adkins were
married in St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Zurich, June 18, 1919
by Rev. H. Rombe and have
resided ever since on the pre-
sent farm they own on the fifth
concession of Hay Township.
Present for the anniversary
celebration were their five
sons, Howard, Hay Township;
Wilmer, Zurich; Cpl. Stewart
Adkins, RCAF North Bay; Jack,
Clinton, and Donald, Sarnia,
their daughter, Mrs. Ernie
Powell, Goderich, and their
families; Mrs. Albert Hess,
Mrs. Wm, Reichert, Mrs. Alf
Reichert, all of Zurich, Mr.
Henry Fuss, Hensall, sisters
and brother of Mrs. Adkins,
and Wm. Adkins, Owen Sound,
brother of Mr. Adkins.
Mrs. Adkins was the former
Violet Fuss, of the Zurich area.
Entertainment for the eve-
ning was provided byCpl.Stew-
art Adkins of RCAF North Bay,
who was stationed in France
for four years, and has been in
the air force 12 years. He
showed colored picture s of
places he visited in England,

Funeral services for Elliott
Fairbairn, '70, of Tillsonburg,
were held Wednesday, June 24
from the Ho A, Ostrander and
Son funeral home, Tillsonburg,
with burial in Tillsonburg
cemetery.
Mr. Fairbairn who died in
Tillsonburg District Memorial
Hospital Sunday, retired in 1961
as supervising principal for
Tillsonburg public schools,
having taught in Tillsonburg
public schools for more than 35
years.
Survivors are his wife, form-

Retired farmer
dies in hospital
Rex Bo Dick died at South
Huron Hospital Exeter Monday,
June 22.
A son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
James Dick, he farmed onhigh-
way 4 until moving to Hensall
three years ago.
He was a member of Carmel
Presbyterian C h u r c h and a
member of the board of man-
agers.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Myrtle Taylor, and one
daughter Mrs. (Audrey) Martin
of London.
Funeral services were held
from the Bonthron funeral home
Wednesday conducted by Rev.
Fry, Seaforth. Interment was in
Hensall Union Cemetery.

the weekend with his grand-
mother Mrs. J. R. Murdoch
at her cottage In Goderich. Mr.
& Mrs. Bill Murdoch of Dundas

days last week visiting with

Miss Patricia Schwalm and
Miss Barbara Schwalm have
accepted positions on the staff
at Elim Lodge, on Pigeon Lake,
near Peterborough for the sum-
mer months. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm Charles and Marjor-
ie, who drove them up spent the
weekend there.
Mr. & Mrs. Alf Scholl and
Gary left Sunday by plane for
Edmonton, Alta, where they will
vacation for a week,
Mrs. Erma Lowery and Lin-
da, who have been residents of
Hensall for the past two years,
took up residence in Exeter this
week and will live with Mrs.
Lowery's daughter and son-in-
law Mr. & Mrs. Murray Brint-
nell and family for the summer
months.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Campbell,
Mr. & Mrs. George Armstrong,
and families attended the Hen-
derson family picnic at Pinafore
Park, St. Thomas, Sunday. The
picnic was attended by 100
members of the clan.
Mrs. E. Ro. Davis is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don.

Laymen's Conference at Elgin
House, Port Carling, over the
weekend.

ted Church this Sunday June 28
and continue through July.

Funeral service for Alvin R.
Austin of Varna, 64, rural mail
carrier for 28 years, who died
suddenly Thursday, were held
from Box funeral home, Sea-
forth, Monday June 22 with
burial in Baird's cemetery.
Survivors are one sister Mrs.
Floyd Schell, St. Petersburg,
Fla; one brother, William, Sea-
forth.
Mr. James McAfee, of Bally-
money, Northern Ireland, re-
turned Saturday to Montreal,
and left on Monday, June 22,
for Ireland, after a 21 day va-
cation in Canada, during which
time he spent several days
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Tre-
vor Wilson and Ronnie. Mrs.
Wilson is a niece of Mr. Mc-
Afee.
Mrs. R. A. Orr and Mrs.
Beverly Beaton are attending
the Rebekah Assembly at Tor-
onto June 22, 23 and 24, the for-
mer as a representative and
the latter a scholar.
Mrs. Norval Reid and Diane,
and Mrs. Bert Riley, are va-
cationing at McKenzie Island,
with Mr. and MrS. Wm. Taylor
and Mary Ann.
