Bride's dishes used 50 years Mr, and Mrs, Cecil Oke, London, celebrated their golden Wedding anniversary Saturday, June 6, A dinner was served for the immediate family Saturday noon at the home of their nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Coleman, RR, 3 Seaforth, open house fol- lowed in the eveningalseSunday afternoon and evening when a host of friends and relatives called to offer good wishes and felicitations. They were the recipients of many letters and congratulatory Cards including a telegram from Mr, and Mrs. Donald Mc, Gill and two sons from Burstall, Sask, Mrs, McGill is a grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oke. Guests were received by their daughter Mrs. Stewart (Carrie) Cudmore, London. A unique incident was that the china din- ner set which Mrs. Oke had received as a gift from her parents prior to her marriage June 3, 1914 was used that day on the dinner table, and was also used June 6, 1964 on the table for their fiftieth wedding dinner with scarcely any mis- sing pieces. Dr. J. Melvin Keys, and was born in the Seaforth district. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ross (Mildred) Orr, and three granddaughters Deborah, Barbara and Cheryl, St. Cath- arines; two sisters, Mrs. Jake (Lillian) Broome, Mrs. John (Norma) Byermann, Seaforth; two brothers, Charles A, Ross, Searsport, Maine; Malcolm F. Rochester, Mich. Her husband, who predeceas- ed her in 1962, served as min- ister at charges at Arthur, St. Marys, Shakespeare, retiring to London. Public funeral services were held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, Monday, June 22 conducted by Rev. Murdock Morrison of Varna United Church. Burial was in Hayfield cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Adkins were married in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich, June 18, 1919 by Rev. H. Rombe and have resided ever since on the pre- sent farm they own on the fifth concession of Hay Township. Mr. Fairbairn who died in Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Sunday, retired in 1961 as supervising principal for Tillsonburg public schools, having taught in Tillsonburg public schools for more than 35 years. Retired farmer dies in hospital Rex Bo Dick died at South Huron Hospital Exeter Monday, June 22. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dick, he farmed onhigh- way 4 until moving to Hensall three years ago. He was a member of Carmel Presbyterian C h u r c h and a member of the board of man- agers. Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtle Taylor, and one daughter Mrs. (Audrey) Martin of London. Funeral services were held from the Bonthron funeral home Wednesday conducted by Rev. Fry, Seaforth. Austin of Varna, 64, rural mail carrier for 28 years, who died suddenly Thursday, were held from Box funeral home, Sea- forth, Monday June 22 with burial in Baird's cemetery. Survivors are one sister Mrs. Floyd Schell, St. Petersburg, Fla; one brother, William, Sea- forth. Mr. James McAfee, of Bally- money, Northern Ireland, re- turned Saturday to Montreal, and left on Monday, June 22, for Ireland, after a 21 day va- cation in Canada, during which time he spent several days visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Tre- vor Wilson and Ronnie.
