Monday in the new school, with the event being sponsored by the teachers. Around 100 attended, includf log pupils, parents, staff and school board'members. The auditorium was decorat, ed by t4e puP11S in Pink and white and the tables centred with pink roses. Mothers of the grade seven pupils served the dinner. Guest speaker was p, Hoople, PrinPiP41 of Medway 114,4 School. Chairman for the night was Kevin O'Connor, A grade eight student. The valedictorian address was• given by Wendy Elston :and PrOicien.PY awards were pre- sented to Wendy g ;strut and glyn Wright, The awards to the top students were presented by Crozier, chairman of the school board. Presentations were made to Rev, Mr. Sach and Rev, Mr, Maines by Mrs. Morley and Linda Heckman, Presentations were also made by the students to their teachers: Principal F. Berdan; Mrs. Hardy, music, supervisor; Mrs. Garrett and Mr. Timbrell. Sherrie Nace introduced the guest speaker and he was thank- ed by Erwin Gebel. Entertainment consisted of .a piano duet by George and Jim Gagan; poetry by WandaMitoraj and Hilary Attwood; a chorus of grade eight students direct- ed by Mrs. Hardy. Ailsa Craig man marks 50 years Mr, and Mrs. Jack Rosser, Ailsa Craig, hosted an Amos family reunion on Sunday, June 14, in honor of Mrs. Rosser's father, Mr. J. Linwood Amos, celebrating his 90th birthday. His ten children with their fam- ilies were all present; also George and Hilton Amos, Syl- van; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Amos, London; and Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Sherritt, Brant- ford. Mr. Amos is looking for- ward to his first airplane ride, which Gordon McAlpine will pilot. His father, Joseph Amos, had his first flight also at age 90. In excellent health, with a keen interest in current events and political trends, as well as remarkable facility in keeping track of his own children, their twenty-eight offspring, plus four great-grandchildren. Mr. Amos has resided at f 'Craigholme", Ailsa Craig, for the past four years which he considers an ideal situation for a person of his age. His wife, the former Rebecca Sherritt, died 21 years ago. Among birthday greetings re- ceived were a telegram from Governor-General and Madame Vanier, a personal letter from Lieut-Governor Earl Rowe, and a card from Prime Minister Pearson. Crowds flock to strawberry meal A fine evening brought a re- cord crowd of people to the strawberry supper at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Brinsley, on Wednesday. Following the sup- per there was a short enter- tainment of music and songs in the church basement. Those taking part were: Steve Brierley, Wendy and David El- ston, Doreen Kenny, Marlene King, Judy Lamport, Dwayne and Gary Lewis, Merle Lewis, Judy Morgan, Jim Neil, and Marion and Norma Rowe, Mrs. Harvey Hodgins was at the piano. The rector, the Rev. R. G. Jackson expressed on behalf of all a warm note of thanks to those who entertained, and also to the members of the Ladies Guild for arranging such a splendid supper. Gill were Mr. & Mrs. Keith Charlton and children of London, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Mit- chell and boys of Ailsa Craig, Mr. & Mrs. Russell Gill and family of Brampton, and Mr. & Mrs. Willis Gill and family. Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer Harrison of Goderich and Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Pollock of Greenway visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Gill and family. Mrs. Gerald Keyes and Deb- bie of rede ricto n, N.B. are spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Fahner. Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Baker of Grand Bend, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Becker and family of Dashwood visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Fahner and family. Mr. & Mrs. Milton Woodburn of Corbett visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Ray Patterson and family. By MRS. WELLWOOD GILL GRAND BEND The Grand Bend WI met Thursday evening in the Town Hall with the 4-H girls and their mothers and leaders, Mrs. Al- vin Moir and Mrs. Dwayne Tin- ney as guests. Mrs. Harry Dougall of Exeter was guest speaker and spoke on 4-H work and its achievements. Mrs. Tinney presided for the program. Miss Linda Miller gave a short commentary on the project just finished. Miss Irene Hendrick explained their note books. The 4-H girls thanked their leaders and presented each with a corsage. The girls modelled their blouses. Mrs. Alvin Moir commented on the motto, "All who do their best are equal". Mrs. D. Tinney read a humorous poem and Mrs. Moir conducted a contest. Mrs. Roy Morenz, president, presided for the business. The roll call was one benefit a girl derives in being a 4-H club member. Mrs. Raymond Kading gave a report of the meeting she attended at Hensall to plan fall rally which will be held October 5. Mrs. Myrtle McGregor, Mrs. Harold Walper and Mrs. Ed Gill were named to plan for entertaining early in the fall. Mrs. Nola Taylor and Mrs. W. Gill are to make plans for a bus trip. Mrs. Emery DesJar- dins reported on centennial pro- ject.
