Thursday evening and was held
in a huge mammoth tent at the
Community Park. It was well
patronized with many haying to
stand for the second perfor-
mance. The animal acts,
clowns, etc. were very pleasing
to the large crowds and particu-
larly enjoyed by the hundreds
of youngsters,
The circus presented by Gene
Cody and Kipling Bros. was
sponsored by the Kinsmen Club
who appreciate the support of
local residents and many from
other centres.

Mrs. Pheobe Weber, a patient at Queensway Nursing Home,
Hensall, quietly marked her 95th birthday on Wednesday, June
17. A life-long resident of Zurich, she carnet() the nursing home
in February. She was a seamstress most of her life and her
favorite hobby was gardening. When health permitted, Mrs.
Weber was an active worker in St. Peter's Lutheran Church,

District Nursing Home Asso-
elation's Juste meeting, Thurs-
day, About 40 members, and
visiting Administrators Of Nur-

arrival of Donald Barnwell, the
District President, from Ridge -
town.
Speaker at the luncheon was
Miss Minerva Sneider, Reg. N.,
Supt. of Nurses at Stratford
General Hospital.
Taking as her general topic—
"Ethics for Nursing Homes"—
the speaker emphasized the
professional standards of care
now expected in nursing homes,
as a specialized area in the
community's health services;
their trusted position in caring
for a relatively helpless group
of increasingly needy people;
the special skills needed.
In the afternoon the group
toured the C alcott Nursing
Home, and the Stratford Festi-
val Theatre, and the Biggin
Nursing Home, where a deli-
cious lunch was served.

Sgt. Donald A. Orr, RCAF
Station St, Hubert, Quebec, and
Mrs. Orr, the former Margret
Mader of West Germany, are
spending a few holidays at the
home of Donald's parents, Mr.
and Mrs, R. A. Orr, Hensall,
prior to leaving Canada for
Metz, France, on June 18. Sgt.
Orr will be stationed there for
four years. He has been in the
Air Force 11 1/2 years and has
been stationed at several places
in Canada and also had two years
at Trier and Ramstein, Ger-
many.
Mrs. Orr came to Canada
five years ago next month and
Sgt. and Mrs. Orr were married
in Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Hensall.

at Arnold Circle
The Arnold Circle of the
Presbyterian Church met Mon-
day evening, with pre si de nt
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm in
charge. She gave several read-
ings, Miss Hannah Murray con-
ducted the worship period.
The topic "Wheels for Jungle
Path", taking the form of a
radio broadcast in India of the
missionaries at work for a day
was presented by Mrs. John'
Skea, Mrs. Harold Bonthron,
Mrs. Al Hoggarth, Mrs. Bob
Bell, Mrs. Harry Snell, and
Mrs. Gerald Bell.
Mrs. Harry Hoy reported on
the supply fund, and also an-
nounced that women's and bab-
ies clothing for the bale for
Toronto to be packed in Septem-
ber is to be left at her home.
Mrs. Ed Fink and Mrs. Hoy
tendered their resignation as
leaders of the CGIT group of
the church.
Meetings will resume inSep-
tember with a pot luck lunch,
each member to bring a guest.

School rooms June 1 in honor
of Miss S u s I e Mae Lostell,
bride-elect of June 6, Mrs. W.
J. F. Bell conducted a 4 le tray
contest. Mrs. Howard Fink-
beiner sang a solo which was
followed by a contest by June
Cooper, and then a sing song.
Berdie and Joan Finkbeiner
favored with a duet. A recipe
book was passed around and
recipes were put into it, Susie
Mae was then invited to the
bride's chair, when an address
was read by Ruby Finlayson.
Gifts were carried In by Sharon
Finlayson, Janice McNichol,
Linda Workman, and Joan Fink-
beiner, Susie Mae then made a
fitting reply.

for active work
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smith
of Guelph, were in TorontoSat-
urday where they were attend-
ing an investiture of St. John's
Ambulance, when Mr. Smith was
presented with his twelve-year
service medal by the Hon. Earl
Rowe, Lieutenant Governor of
Ontario.
Later they were among the
guests at a reception and tea
given by his Honor, the Lieu-
tenant Governor of Ontario and
Mrs. Earl W. Rowe of Queen's
P ark.
Mr. Smith is a son-in-law of
Mr. and Mrs. John Jarrott of
Hensall.

with the devotional period taken
by Mrs. P. L. McNaughton, and
Mrs. Cornelius Faber.

Bible study on the "Book of
Exodus" was given. Mrs. Rod-
ger Venner reported for friend-
ship and visitation.
Plans were finalized for the
smorgasbord supper June 24.
Lunch was served by hostesses,
Mrs. Doug Cook, and Mrs. Rea-
burn. This is the final meeting
of this unit until they resume in
September.

Kippen UCW met Tuesday
evening, June 9, with 28 ladies
in attendance. Mrs. 13. Faber,
the president was in charge of
the meeting. Mrs. T. W. Reid
acted as secretary. Mrs. K.
McKay was in charge of the
worship.
Mrs. Howard Plant was the
guest speaker, and she spoke
on "Unity in the Church". Mrs.
J. Sinclair gave two readings
and Mrs. E. Kyle gave the
courtesy remarks.
Final arrangements were
made for the annual ham and
strawberry supper to be held
in the church Sunday School
rooms on June 19. Also plans

three weeks trip to England,

trip was made by chartered
plane. They are the daughter
and son-in-law of Mr. & Mrs.

Repair church
at Chiselhurst
The Chiselhurst UCW meet-
ing was held at the home of
Mrs. Bert Riley, Hensall last
Tuesday evening with 25 ladies
present, and president Mrs.
Harold Parker presiding.
Mrs. Ross Sararas led the
worship period assisted by Mrs.
Alf Ross. Mrs. T. Brintnell
reviewed the Bible study on
"God The Creator". Mrs. R.
Taylor gave a reading.
During the business session
November 5 was set for thefall
bazaar, also the September
meeting will be held in the
evening one week earlier. Com-
mittee in charge of repair work
to church basement reported
that work has started and hope
the new floor will be finished
by the end of the week.
