Mrs. Andy Carter, president of the WA, presided for the meeting. Scripture was read by Mrs, Alvin Cunningham. Mrs. Karl O'Neil gave the fifth chapter of the study book “A. power for World Mission." Nelson Peterson active in church Nelson Peterson, -86, RR 1 Clandeboye, died Wednesday, May 27 in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, after a short illness. He was born in Gosfield South Township, Essex County, and had lived there the most of his life. He was a member of Ruthven United Church. In his early years he served in Ruthven Methodist church as lay min- ister andSundaySchool teacher. He was a member of IOOF and Woodman of the World. About 10 years ago he moved here and made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Macintosh, RR 1 Clandeboye. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Jane Scratch, in 1946. He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. (Myrtle) Macintosh and Mrs. Ed. (Mar- ion) Miner, Comber; three sons, Harold, London; Floyd of El- liot Lake and Paul of Parkhill, also 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The body rested at the Murdy funeral home, Lucan, till Friday morning, thence to the Robinson Memorial Home, Leamington, when Rev. The subject matter of the meeting consisted of a demon- stration on transplanting by the assistant leader, Mrs. G. Viv- ian, telling when, where and why transplanting should be done. Mrs. ,Daynard explained why one should plant at different intervals. A variety of common garden weeds were examined and identified by the members. Mrs. Vivian explained the food value in vegetables refer- ring to Canada's Food Guide for Health. Heather Daynard dem- onstrated the proper method of thinning and explained the rea- son why. Mrs. Daynard explain- ed the proper way to cook garden greens and asparagus. The next meeting is to be held at Mrs. Daynards home Saturday, June 27.
