For Exeter, Grace Farquhar has returned as manager. Lloyd Cushman will once again coach. The Greys have held two workouts to date while some of the other teams have already held exhibition games. EVERGREENS Out of Our Own Lot Planting During May The Exeter Men's Golf Club held a nine-hole tourney last Thursday night at the Exeter Golf Course, Twenty club mem- bers participated in the event. Bill Pollen and Wally Burton tied for low net honors with a 315. Pollen toured the nine hole layout in 45 while Burton regis- tered a 41. However, the handi- caps of 10 and 6 respectively deadlocked the pair for first place low net honors. Lloyd Cushman, Claude Far- row, Hal Hinton and Ernie Chip- chase finished in that order to cop the next four low net prizes. All four recorded 36 net rounds. The hidden hole went to Barry Greenacre who carded an eight on the third. Low 'hidden hole was taken by Stan Thorne with a par three on the first hole. The door prize went to "Red's Fairley. Softball league to stage social The Exeter Men's Softball League will officially open its 1964 season with a social get- to-gether at the Exeter Legion Hall this Friday night. All members of teams throughout the six team group of last season are invited to attend the do which starts at 8;00 p.m. Team executive members are requested to be at the Legion Hall at 7;00 p.m. sharp so that definite plans may be made for this season. One meeting has been held but due to the lack of atten- dance, nothing definite could be decided. Thirty club members baptized the new season of play as seven greens were in play. First place prize winners were Ray Smith and Ivan Hirtzel with a score of two plus 20, Wes Venner and Hugh Love bowled two wins with a plus of 12, good enough for second place. Will Goodwin and Lillian Pym placed third with two wins, plus seven, while Betty Tilly and Howard Ince registered two Wins pluS four, good enough for fourth place. The Exeter Lawn Bowling Club has purchased new equip- ment for work on the greens and all members of the club antici- pate a good season of play. Of course the club is still looking for more new members.
