When trying to start an auto-
matic transmission car with a
flat battery, always push it, the
Ontario Safety League recom-
mends. If it is towed it is
liable to jump ahead when the
engine starts, risking a colli-
sion with the towing car. Dif-
ferent makes of automatic
transmission cars have differ-
ent recommended procedures
for push-starting. Most should
be pushed in neutral to reach
a speed of 20 or 25 mph before
Drive, or Low is engaged.

Gertie Edna Morley, who
Paesed away two years ago,
April 23rd 1962,
Gone from us but leavieg me-

Memories that will ever linger,
While upon this earth we stay.

Air force studies teaching machines
An RCAF committee on programmed learning is investigating the use of teaching machines for
personnel training, Several experiments in this field have been carried out by Centralia and Clinton
officers. Above, S/L Bill Farrel, Centralia; S/L Don Noble, training command headquarters,
Winnipeg; and F/I, John Harder, Clinton, discuss results of the experiments during a meeting of
the committee at Clinton recently. The Americans are making extensive use of this type of teaching
in their civil and military schools. It has been found to save costs. -RCAF photo
