for UCW group
Mrs. Harold Currie was guest
speaker at the Easter thank-
offering meeting of UCW Unit 4
Thursday afternoon, April 2,
presenting an Easter message.
Mrs. Laird Mickle presided for
the program and Mrs. James
McAllister for the business.
The devotional on "The Holy
Week" was in charge of Miss
M. Ellis, assisted by Mrs. Sim
Roobol and Mrs. Pearl Shad-
dick. Miss Ann Mickle favoured
with two piano solos.
The group were informed of
the order bake sale May 9 for
Mother's Day sponsored by
Mrs. on Mock's unit; the gen-
eral UCW meeti n g Monday,
April 13, for which Rev. Clif-
ford Park of Clinton, president
of London Conference of the
United Church of Canada, will
be guest speaker.
Members responded well with
their gift of tea towels for the
church kitchen. Arrangements
were made for this unit to look
after flowers and nursery for
the month of April.
Mrs. Mickle expressed
thanks to Mrs. Currie for her
inspiring message, and to those
who assisted with the program.
The lovely Easter flowers ar-
ranged by Mrs. Clarence Smil-
lie reminded one of the Botani-
cal Gardens.
Mrs. E., Rowe and Mrs. W,
Dining will have charge of the
May meeting.
Program conveners were
Mrs. Laird Mickle, and Mrs.
Sim Roobol. Forty attended the
meeting.

shoulder and is in a cast at
present.

The Winchelsea Euchre club
held its last party of the sea-
son at Elimville Township hall,
Monday night, with a pot luck
supper.
Hostesses were MabelGilfil-
Ian Mary Hern, Reta Campbell
and Blanche Walters.
Euchre was played after sup-
per with four tables playing,
prizes going to: ladies high,
Reta Campbell; men's high, Ivan
Brock; lone hands, Ward Hern
and consolation, Gary Hern.

plans for annual
South Huron WI Board of
Directors met in the town hall,
Hens all, Tuesday afternoon,
April 7. District president Mrs.
James Drummond, Kippen, was
in the chair.
Plans were made for the
district annual to be held in
Thames Road UC May 14 with
Hurondale WI as host branch.
The Huron County rally to be
held October 5 was also dis-
cussed.
Plans were made for the WI
exhibit at Exeter Fall Fair and
it was arranged to have a rep-
resentative attend the historical
society in Goderich May 6. Mrs.
W. D, Mack, Crediton, was
named.
The fall board meeting will
be held November 9 in Hensall
town hall.
The directors and presidents
of each of the nine branches
numbering 25 were represent-
ed.
