Mrs. Hodgins is proud of
her horses,the biggest task
is keeping them clean and free
of dust. "Some day" she says
"I'll find a suitable case in
which to display them."
How was their money used?
Here are some of the main
projects: Equipping of the kit-
chen, purchasing of chairs
tables and extensions, varnish-
ing and finishing the auditorium,
contributions to the public ad-
dress system, cementiloor, ice
surface, tennis court and the
swimming pool.
Of the group, Mrs. Sheridan
Revington as president, Mrs.
H. B. Langford as treasurer,
and Mrs. Erwin Scott as sec-
retary, are not only charter.
members but are still inoffice.

A fondness for horses and a
reward for scholastic achieve-
ment led to ahobbyof collecting
china horses for Mrs. Lloyd
Hodgins, Gilley St.
For passing her grade 8
exams at Exeter Public School
and being named valedictorian
of her class, the former Helen
Taylor was given a pinto saddle
pony by her father, the late
James Taylor. Her older sister,
Marnie gave her a pair of china
horses. These formed the nuc-
leus of her present collection.
Helen kept her pony until the
pressure of studies in Grade 13
took so much time she was un-
able to care for it and she
parted with it.
"The next best thing to alive
horse is a china one" she says.

dish.
Press 6 hollows in the mac-
aroni and break an egg into each.
Pour the 1/2 cup milk over eggs
and sprinkle with buttered

cheese.

ils while on the Kitchener teach-
ing staff have given her gifts of
horses until she now has 84 in
her collection.
Helen's love of horses is, no
doubt, inherited from her
grandfather, the late Fr ank
Taylor, whom, as a young girl,
she often accompanied on his
transactions in buying, selling
and trading horses. "Fondness
for horses is a Taylor trait"
she says.
Her collection presents a
great variety in size, color and
breeds of horses. The smallest
stands only one inch high while
the tallest reaches eight inches.
Colors range through brown,
black, chestnut, white, grey and
even two green ones. Pintos,
palominos and appaloosas are

Lucan area ladies have won
themselves a place in their
community arena's "Hall of
Fame".
The ladies, who have worked
untiringly over the past 14 years
to assist the community project,
recently posed for a group pho-
tograph which will be hung in
the auditorium in tribute to
their efforts.
The committee, formed in
1950 when the centre opened,
have contributed over $20,000
to the control board.
How did they raise this stag-
gering sum?
Most of it came from re-
ceipts of the snack bar in the
centre which they operated 12
of the past 14 years.
Other money-making pro-
jects include card parties and
dances, catering for banquets,
weddings, dog shows, music
festivals, trade fairs and beef
barbecue.
This month eggs are in plen-
tiful supply. This is good news
for the consumer who can use
them to advantage in main dish
meals during this Lenten season
and she can use more of them
in light fluffy cakes and desserts
at Easter time.
Because eggs are an impor-
tant source of protein they can
be served as the main part of a
meal. Many tasty 1 un ch eon
dishe s combining eggs with
other protein foods such as
milk and cheese can be quickly
and easily prepared. Nutrition-
ists recommend that we eat an
egg for breakfast to start us off
with a satisfied feeling that
stays with us until lunch.
