Board for approval.
All but one of the seven muni-
cipalities has approved the ek-
penditure. Grand Bend council
opposed it. A majority is all that
is required to proceed.

The air was filled with sus-

the student council, opened the
envelope which contained the
winner's name, There had been
a great deal of speculation at the
high school as to who would be
queen and the mystery was
finally solved Friday night when
the clock struck 12.

The students went all out this
year in supporting their candi-
dates and the c4rnpaigne were
excellent.,
The best campaign was dis,
played by 12C who were sup-
Porting their candidate, Nancy
Phillips. They had two guitars
and between classes the entire
class would sing to attract the
voters' attention. They made up
one song to the tune of "Kansas
City" which was instead "Nancy
Phillips, she's the one".
The boys in 12C were dressed
up in white shirts covered with
writing, hats and cut-off jeans
while the girls wore black leo-
tards, black skirts and white
shirts.
The supporters of Norm a
Young in 12B wore kookie hats
which also attracted much at-
tention. This campaigning was
allowed Monday, Tuesday, and
Wednesday. Thursday was a day
of rest and on Friday the six
candidates were introduced to
the student body as each class
put on a skit.
The most popular skit was
put on by Bonnie Turvey"s sup-
porters in 13A. The Beatles,

Robert Gardiner
Robert L. Gardiner, 83, of
Simcoe died in Westminister
Hospital, London, Thursday,
February 13.
He was born near Farquhax
and was a brother of the late
Hon. James G. Gardiner.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Isabel Duncan, two sons,
Harold, Lenberg, Sask., Lind-
say, RR 4 Simcoe, two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Garfield (Verde)
Kincaid, Prescott, Mrs. Andrew
(Beth) McIntosh, Picton and one
sister, Mrs. Jeanette Allen,
Kirkton.
Funeral service was held Sat-
urday, Feb. 15 at the A. Millard
George funeral home with burial
in Oakwood Cemetery.

every school field, from athle-
tics to music to student council.
The 19-year-old daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Salmon,
Dashwood, she's been v ic e-
president of her class, vice-
president of the girls' athletic
society, a member of the school
orchestra and the glee club, a
basketball and volleyball team
member and a participant in the
drama club.
In Dashwood, she's a member
of the band, Sunday school
teacher and pianist.
