Jehovah's Witnesses are pro- hibited from association with other religions, politics or commerce by doctrine, District Supervisor T. R. Jones acknow- ledged Sunday in an interview held during the circuit assembly here. Our basic stand is"Friend- ship with the world is enmity with God'," said Jones, explain- ing why the Watch Tower ad- herents sometimes draw the ire of communities wherever they work. They feel the enmity they create puts them closer to their god. Jones said "neutrality" was their watchword in regard to laws and governmental func- tions. "We are bound to obey the laws of any country in which we operate and to pay the taxes which are levied. But we do not take part in political functions, including elections, nor in com- munity associations". Make sure you can win one of the 100 Free Helicopter Rides can take no part in government, Jones was asked who would look after schools and services should all of the people in a municipality become witnesses. He indicated "servants" would be appointed by superior au- thority to operate the commu- nity. The likelihood of such a thing happening, however, is remote, since Jehovah's Witnesses do not expect a majority ever will be converted. Their interpreta- tion of the Scripture is that only a small band will ever "bear witness to God's kingdom". Other points: Jehovah's Witnesses do not concern themselves over cur- rent theological discussions re- garding the geographical loca- tion or existence of heaven, to which the 144,000 'chosen" will rise. "This is not an issue to Witnesses," he said. They consider their doctrine "fallible" or subject to revi- sion as new disclosures in- crease under standingofthe scriptures. This does not apply to the basic belief about Jehovah and his demands, however. "Put it this way,'' said Jones, "We have found no reason to change in this regard". Christ is, in their view, "the son of God, the supreme being, the creator of everything, the almighty., king of eternity''. But God did not create Satan, "the creator of himself", or evil. This did not indicate, however, that there was another creator besides God, in the JW view. Although JW's have no in- terest in politics of earthly government, Mr. Jones said "No one has his finger on the pulse of the people better than we do, because we are calling on them every day." The assassination of Ken- nedy, he said, shocked Cana- dians more deeply than any other recent event, including the Cuban crisis. "His (Ken- nedy's) murder just simply rocked everybody." By MRS. The three-day assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses concluded Sunday when 649 district rep- resentatives gathered for the final session in Huron South District High School here. The auditorium overflow rooms were used for meetings. District Supervisor, Mr. T. R Jones, in the main public discourse "The Bible Triumphs in a Scientific World" given Sunday at 3 p.m., presented these questions! "Which kind of science will you choose to accept? Will you follow the way of the greatest scientist, Jehovah God, or will you choose the way of pseudo- scientists and suffer theirfate? Your future, yes, your life, depends on your choice." Saturday evening a program ;was conducted by the principle speaker, T. R. Jones, to review the activity of Jehovah's wit- nesses in the area during the last six months. One of the delegates, Tom Rawlings of Exeter congrega- tion, said: "The average wit- ness spends upward of 10 hours each month in the preaching work, In this area 455 witness ministers spent more than4800 hours in making house calls and return visits on interested persons in the last six months.
