McFalls, Centralia.
Mr. MacNaughton commend-
ed the students noting that they
collaborated with the nurse and
doctor and shared the responsi-
bility as a dedicated team,
Mr. MacNaughton in his talk
gave a "little reminiscing about
our hospital." He stated it was
most unique in that it was a
community effort financed en-
tirely from donations of indivi-
duals and organizations and no
donations were used for other
than building purposes.
"But" he said "if we are
going to begin at the beginning
--in all fairness--the Lions in
the fall of 1941 startedusonthe
road". He then traced the dif-
ficulties in deciding on a site,
the too-high tenders received
for building, the offer of a local
contractor and the time and
strategy used by members of
the Board in the building and
the completion of the hospital.
"They finished with a surplus
of funds and they still have a
surplus" the Minister of High-
ways said "and as far asI know
it is the only hospital in the
district that has never been
without a surplus--a type of
policy unmatched anywhere. Ef-
ficiency, foresight and good
judgment has been the policy of
the Board" and he paid tribute
to Miss Claypole to whom "we
owe a great deal of gratitude for
her able administration."
B, W. Tuckey expressed
thanks to Mr. MacNaughton.
Mayor Hldrid Simmons congra-
tulated the Board and the gradu-
ates on behalf of the town.
Miss Lynda Button gave the
