Rev. R, S. Hiltz, area advisor, reveals four youth from this area have been nominated, in- cluding Donald Cann, Exeter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carfrey Cann. Other candidates are from Seaforth, Clinton and Auburn. Voting will take place among the young people at the United Churches in the district on No- vember 24- or during that week. Mr. Hiltz will act as returning officer. All youth between the ages of 12 and 20 are eligible to vote. Although parliament repre- sentation is open to all deno- minations, voting has been confined this time to the United Churches, since they were the only ones to nominate candi- dates. Not much electioneering is expected, because of the short period available. However, local candidate Cann, an liSDHS Mrs. W. Hamilton dies in Seaforth Mrs. William A. Hamilton, 83, of Cromarty, died Sunday, November 17 at Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, She was the former Janet Ballantyne, a life-long resident of Cromarty. Surviving are her husband; five daughters, Mrs. N..1, (Eli- zabeth) Henkel, TeeSwater; Mrs. C. F. (Margaret) Miller, Staffs; Mrs. 13. L, (Mary) Bal- four, Sault Ste, Marie; Mrs, J. C, (Wilma) Cornish, Seaforth, and Hazel at home; one son, Frank, Cromarty; one sister Miss Lillian Ballantyne, Exe- ter, and three brothers, James Ballantyne, London, William, Fort William and Thomas of Exeter. Burrows, recently visited RCAF Clinton to view the teaching tactics used by the air force schools which have won recognition for their advanced methods. The inspector inspected the radar and communications school, where he saw programmed learning experiments being conducted, and the school of instructional technique, where he was briefed by VI, D. A, Dolan, OC, on the role of teaching instructors. One reason for increased in- terest in parliament this year is its location. The sessions will be held in Kitchener. Native of Exeter dies in New York Mrs. Andrew W. McLaughlin, a native of Exeter who served for 45 years as a Red Cross volunteer near Buffalo, died Oct. 17 at Gowanda hospital, New York State. Mrs. McLaughlin, theformer Madge Muir, received a long- service award from the Buffalo Red Cross in 1962 and in 1960 was chosen as woman of the year in Gowanda. She supervised the Gowanda Red Cross blood bank program from its inception about 25 years ago until she relinquished the post earlier this year. She has been ill for about six months. Mrs. McLaughlin was also active in the American Legion auxiliary and the Presbyterian church in her community. After attending district schools here, she graduated from Buffalo State Normal School and taught in Gowanda until her marriage in 1916 to Andrew W, McLaughlin, aphar- macist in Gowanda. State Hos- pital. He was an inspector for the state board of pharmacy at his retirement in 1943. Besides her husband, Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jack Pierce, Williamson, W, V5; two sisters, Mrs. John A. Christenson, Nia- gara Falls, and Mrs, Merritt A. Switzer, Pulaski, N,Y., and six grandchildren.
