visiting cart at the hospital.
Auxiliary members will take
the cart around to the patients
while the kinettes will stock it.
Mrs, Harold Taylor gave a
comprehensive rep ort o f the
Hospital and Auxiliary conven-
tion held recently in Toronto to
which she and Mrs. Delmer
Skinner were delegates. Two provincial honor certificates and a leader's award were presented at the 4-H Homemaking
Clubs' Achievement Day at HSDHS Saturday. Ann Creery of the Elimville club and Shirley Rey-
nolds of Hurondale receive their certificates from Mrs. James Drummond, RR 2 Kippen, pre-

mixture In 8-inch square pan,
Arrange peer halves over
crumbs, Mix lemon juice and,
pear juice and sprinkle over
pears,
Qombine sugar, spices and
salt and sprinKle over pears,
Tpp with remaining crumbs and
bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees,
Vanilla wafer crumbs and
canned peaches also make a
nice dessert made in this man-
ner.
PRISM CAKE
3 jelly powders, 1 each of
orange, cherry and lime.
3 cups hot water
1 1/2 cup cold water
1 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup sugar
1 pkg lemon jello
1/2 cup cold water
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup melted butter
1 can Carnation milk or 2 cups
cream
Prepare the first 3 pkg jello
using 1 cup hot water and 1/2
cup cold water in each. Then
pour each into separate pans
8"x2". Chill until firm.
Combine pineapple juice and
sugar and heat; remove from

Groups of Institute :members
here and there in Heath Huron
for the past several weeks have
been discussing the .question
"What's ,for dessert?" and. a.
Summary Day Is being held In
Heasall Legion Hall Friday,
November 22, to sum up all
that was learned about desserts.
Mrs, Hugh Love and ,Mrs,
Abner Passmore of the Baron,
dale branch were the leaders
for that group and have held.
three sessions demonstrating
the making of desserts and
"Swapping" ideas, These des-
serts are not. necessarily
borate — in fact fresh fruit in
season and cheese were fa-
vorites and ways to lower the
calories were discussed such as
making milk puddings with skim
milk in place of whole milk or
dispensing with the trimmings.
Here are some of the recipes
used;
APPLE CRUNCH PUDDING
1 172 to 2 cups cornflakes
slightly crushed
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
(optional)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbl melted butter
1/2 cup raisins
2 cups slightly stewed apple
slices
Mix the first 5 ingredients
together and spread half the
mixture in a buttered baking
dish,
Cover with the apples and
raisins. Spread remaining
crumb mixture on top.
Bake in a moderate oven 350
degrees for 25 min. Serve
warm. Makes six servings.
GINGER PEAR. CRUMBLE
1 1/2 cups gingersnap crumbs
1/4 cup butter
1-28 oz tin pear halves
1 tbl lemon juice
1/4 cup pear juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tp salt
1/2 tp cinnamon
1/4 tp nutmeg

Mrs. F. R. Dobbs presented

oversight.
Miss Claypole extended an
invitation for all Auxiliary
members to attend the gradua-
tion of the registered nurses

gram, CKNX-TV Friday after-
noon at 2:30 pm and were inter-
viewed by MC Johnnie Brent
concerning their work.
Mrs. Harry Strang, vice-
chairman of the area, spoke on
the area convention held the
same week; Secretary Mrs.
Harry Caldwell gave statistical
facts; Mrs. Wilfred Mack, Cre-
cliton, spoke of the Tweedsmuir
history and had it on display.
Mrs. Ken Johns told of the WI
bursary for the Children's Aid,
Goder i ch.
President Mrs. Earl Neil,
Crediton WI, President Mrs.
Gerald McFalls of Hurondale
WI, Vice-president Mrs.
Franklin Skinner, Elimville WI
and President Mrs. W. J. F.
Bell of Kippen East gave inter-
esting highlights of their
branch's activities. The latter
received compliments on her
hat which she had made herself
as a result of a WI millinery
course.

Misses Ann Creery of Elim-
ville 4-H Homemaking Club and
Shirley Reynolds of the Huron-
dale Club were presented with
provincial honors at Achieve-
ment Day held in HSDHS Satur-
day. 'These awards are won by
successfully completing 16 club
projects.
Receiving county honors for
completing six projects were
Sharon Fletcher, Kathy Bern,
Margaret Brock, Nancy Willert,
Dianne Weber, Kathy Buxtin,
Marilyn Galloway, Joyce Mayer
and Josephine Westlake,
These were presented by
Mrs. James Drummond, RR 2
Kippen, president of SouthHur-
on District WI, who reminded
the 4-11 girls that "success
comes only with work." Mrs.
Norman Jaques was presented
with a five-year leader's cer-
tificate by Miss Patricia Da-
muds, Huron home economist,
who was in charge of the day.
Achievement Day marked the
conclusion of the project "The
Milky Way." Participating were
clubs of Hurondale, Dashwood,
Crediton, Kippen East, Elim-
ville (two clubs) Zurich (2) and
Molesworth (2).
A record book, recipe file and
a baked custard made by each
girl were on display. The morn-
ing session was taken up by
.er
judging custards and a class of
menus giving reasons. The af-
ternoon program, which was
open to the public, included
skits, demonstrations and ex-
hibits.
Geraldine Blair was a com-
mentator for the exhibit of Elim-
\dile Club 1 "The Magic Milk
Bottle" showing all the pro-
ducts obtained from milk.
Margaret Merner discussed
the Dashwood club exhibit "Milk
on the Invalid's Tray" showing
the many ways milk may be in-
corporated in the invalid's diet.
Ruth Hodge pointed out from
the Crediton club exhibit that
milk may be included in the
diet through desserts such as
Custards, pumpkin pie, banana
split and blanc mange.
Karen McKinley enlarged on
the exhibit of Zurich Club 1
"The Milk Bar" pointing out the
uses of milk in beverages and
Soups.
A skit "What Milk Did for
Molly" was presented by the
Kipper) East girls: Marian Ro-
berts, Karen Sararas, Donna
Stoll, Donna Whitehouse, Ruth
Ann Coleman and Doris Riley
with Grace Riley introducing
the cast.
Elimville club 2 pointed out
by means of a skit that "The
Whole Family Needs Milk"
from baby to grandparents.
Taking part in costume were
Anne Johns, Margaret Brock,
Marilyn Johns, Margaret Johns,
Lynn Otis, Janet Skinner, Elaine
Johns, Carol Bell, Ava Elford,
Helen Campbell, and Kathy
Bern with Susan Allen present-
ing the participants.
Zurich and Molesworth clubs
each gave a demonstration of
pasteurizing milk.
Visiting home economists
who commented on the program
were Miss Lois Smith, Middle-
sex County, and Mrs, Nancy
Buchanan, London.

Three other achievement
days will be held in Hur on
County at Seaforth, Auburn and
Wroxeter. Over 400 girls par-
ticipated in this project.
"What Shall I Wear?" is the
project chosen for spring 1964.
