the lodge rooms Wednesday,
Nov. 8 with Noble Grand Mrs.
Clarence Volland presiding.
It was decided to have a des-
sert euchre Wednesday after-
noon, November 27. The Christ-
mas party will be the regular
meeting date December 4 with
an exchange of gifts at $1.00
each also a gift of used clothing
used toys or new ones for the
Children's Shelter in Goderich,
TELLS OF AFRICA TRIP
On Monday, November 11, the
UWO general meeting was held
in the church school rooms. The
theme of the meeting was "Re-
membrance Day".
President Mrs. Walter Spen-
cer opened with a fitting prayer
and Mrs. Ian McAllister led the
devotional by reading "In Flan-
ders Field."
An article by J. D. McLeod
"The Greatest Love" was read
by Mrs. Ross Forrest. The
Desch sisters from Zurich pro-
vided two inspiring music al
numbers.
Miss Marion McQueen, of
London, daughter of Rev. Angus
McQueen, London, was guest
speaker. Her topic was on her
experiences this past summer
with Crossroads Africa along
with some colored slides of
the country and the summer
building project.
A comical skit was provided
by Mrs. Rodger Venner and
Mrs. Jim Taylor followed with
the business and lunch.

Honoring the dead of Two
Weald Wars Remembrance Day
was observed in Reese11 on
Monday under the auspices of
Legion Branch 468 with mem-
bers of the Legion, Auxiliary,
Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies
and their leaders headed by
Bannockburn Pipe Band of Var-
na forming the parade,
At the cenotaph, Rev, Harold
F, Currie gave the invocation,
and John Skea read scripture
passages.
Wreaths were placed for Pro-
vince of Ontario by Mrs. Mary
Taylor; Hensall Branch of Ca-
nadian Legion, John Simmons;
Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Wm.
Smale; Kinsmen and Kinettes,

Eric Mansfield; Cubs, Jack La-

Village of Hensall, Reeve

Celebrate
Thirty members of the family
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle
Sr. of Hensall, gathered at their
home Wednesday evening, No-
vember 6, to honor them on
their 60th wedding anniversary,
to enjoy a social evening with
them and to present them with
the gift of a record player.
Cards were enjoyed and a
midnight buffet luncheon ser-
ved.
The celebrants were the reci-
pients of congratulatory mes-
sages from Queen Elizabeth;
L. B. Pearson, Prime Minister
of Canada; J. Roberts, Prime
Minister of Ontario; C. S. Mac-
Naughton, Minister of High-
ways; a framed certificate from
the Provincial secretary and
messages from their sons Roy
of Timmins, and Russell, St.
Catharines, in addition to cards,
flowers and gifts.
Their marriage was solem-
nized in the Anglican parsonage,
Hensall. Mr, Kyle is the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Kyle, formerly of Tuckersmith
and his wife is the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno
Kipfer, Waterloo County. They
farmed on the Parr Line, Hay
Tp., retiring to Hensel' 30 years
ago. Family are sons Bryan and

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell
celebrated their 35th wedding
anniversary on Sunday at the
home of their daughter and son-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
Hendrick of Dashwood. A fowl
dinner was served with all the
trimmings including a three-
tier wedding cake.
On Thursday evening friends
surprised them at their home to
spend a social evening with
them.

Auxiliary makes
Christmas plans
At the meeting of Mansell
Legion Ladies Auxiliary held
last Tuesday evening plans were
made for Armistice Day and
also for the Christmas activi-
ties.
Parcels are to be sent for
Christmas to the local serving
members of the armed forces
and also the Auxiliary's adopted
veterans in Westminster Hospi-
tal, London. A Christmas party
for all Legion and Auxiliary
members will be held in the
Legion Hall, Sunday, December
8.
The December meeting will
be a Christmas party with an
exchange of gifts, each gift to
cost not less than $1.
Mystery prize was won by

guessing prize by Mrs. John
Skea, Bingo was played.

The topic "In Time of Re-
membrance" was given by Mrs.
Grace Scott. Included in the
secretary's report were letters
of interest.
The Bible story on the Book
of John was led by Mrs. T. L.
Scott and Mrs. T. Laing told the
Bible story of the life of Hannah.

Tidings prayer. Mrs. Calder
McKaig gave current events.

Rev, J. C. Boyne was chair-
man for the social evening held
in Cromarty Church on Monday
evening Nov. 11 when former
choir members and friends ga-
thered to honor Mrs. Ken Mc-
Kellar who has resigned as
organist and choir leader of
Cromarty congregation of te r
upwards of twenty-five years
service.
The program opened with
community singing with Mrs,
Gordon Laing at the piano. In
the chairman's remarks Mr.
Boyne expressed his apprecia-
tion for the work Mrs. McKellar
had done. Mrs. Gerald Carey
and Mrs. Robert Laing gave

Mrs. Robert Bell, hostess,
assisted by Mrs. Gerald Bell,
coehostess, entertained rela-
tives and friends at the former ' s
home on Saturday afternoon in
honor of Miss Sharon Stewart
of Toronto.
Contest and games were en-
joyed followed by the presenta-
tion of miscellaneous gifts by
Misses Linda Bell and Mar-
garet Hunkin. The address was
read by Mrs. Robert Bell. Miss
