FETED BY NEIGHBORS
About 25 neighbors of Mr, and
Mrs. William Bierling gathered
at their home on the Blue Water
highway Friday evening to bid
them farewell prior to taking up
residence in Dashwood and to
wish them future happiness.
The evening was spent in
contests and visiting.
Mr. and Mrs. Bierling were
presented with a gift for which
they thanked all.
A number of players may at-
tempt to form and operate their
own intermediate club here, as
a result of the meeting in the
town hall Friday night.
Councillor Derry Boyle, who
called the meeting, said about
a dozen players and one fan
turned out. "There wasn't much
fan support but the players
want to play".
A practice and another meet-
ing will be held this Friday
night.
If the club Is formed it will
probably become the 10th team
in the area OHA intermediate
league. Teams include Lucan,
Forest, Seaforth, Milverton,
RCAF Clinton, Elmira, St,Cle-
ments and Goderich.
Boyle himself said he did not
intend to take a post with the
club. "I'm just trying to spark:
it. I want no part of it really."
"It seems a shame," he said,
"that a town the size of Exeter
which spends so much money
on minor hockey doesn't have
an intermediate club." He said
he felt there should be some fan
support, particularly since the
theatre has closed.
He indicated there would be
no junior club this year.

downs brought the football to the

A quarterback option by Mc-

second. McDowell then went

down. The convert was blocked
leaving the score 13-6 in favor
of the northern crew.
Again, after taking the kickoff
the Panthers were forced to
punt. Before the quarter ended
Wingham brought the ball to the
Panther 35 yard line after a 35
yard aerial.
They failed to capitalize on
this break as the Panthers re-
covered a fumble on their own
15-yard line. After the teams
had traded kicks twice the ball
ended up at mid-field in the
Panthers' posSession. Once
again they were stopped just
short of a first down.
Wingham could not move the
ball at all and the Panthers had
