Now for these new recipeS: CHOCOLATE MINT BARS (makes 2 dozen bars) 1/2 cup butter 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 tp baking powder 1/8 tp salt 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 1/2 tp vanilla 1/2 cup nutmeats * * * 2 tbl soft butter 1 cup sifted icing sugar 1 tbl cream 1/4 tp peppermint extract green food coloring 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate Butter an 8-inch square pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the 1/2 cup butter and 2 oz unsweetened chocolate in top of double boiler; melt over boiling water. Cool. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt, Beat eggs until light, gradually beat in sugar. Stir in flour Miatnre, chocolate Mixture, vanilla and nutmeats. Spread batter in prepared pan. Bake for 2Q to 25 Minutes, Cool completely in pan. ICING Cream the g tbl butter; gra- dually blend in icing sugar al- ternately with cream. Beat in peppermint extract. Tint deli- cately with green food coloring. Spread on cold cake. Melt re- maining 1 oz chocolate over boiling water; drizzle over green icing, Cut into $ strips, then cut each strip into three bars. MAPLE FUDGE BUNS (Makes 8 buns) 2 1/2 cups packaged biscuit mix 3 tbl granulated sugar few grains nutmeg 3/4 cup milk soft butter 1/2 cup lightly-packed brown sugar 1/4 cup seedless raisins. Butter a 9-inch pie plate or foil pie pan. Measure biscuit mix into a bowl. Add and mix in gran. sugar and nutmeg. Stir in milk; mix lightly with a fork. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board or canvas and knead lightly. Roll out to an 8- inch square; spread with soft btitter, sprinkle with the 1/2 cup brown sugar and raisins,. Roll up dough jelly-roll fashion, Cut into 8 one-Inch slices, Place slices cut side up in prepared pie plate, Bake in 400 degree oven for 20 to. 25 minutes. cOol 141)0.1110 minutes then drizzle with the following frosting; FROSTING Eoirthltie 2/4 cup brown sit- gar, 3 01 butter, 3 tbl maple syrup and 2 tbl cream in a saucepan; bring to the boil, stir- ring until sugar dissolves, Boil rapidly, without stirring, 5 min. GLAZED LEMON LOAF 1 2/3 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 1 /2 tp baking powder 1/2 tp salt 2/3 cup chopped walnuts i/g cup soft butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 tp grated lemon rind 1/2 tp vanilla 2/3 cup milk 2 tbl lemon juice 1/2 cup sugar Butter a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan, Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; add and mix in walnuts. Cream butter; gradually beat in the 1 cup sugar, Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add and mix in lemon rind and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients to cream- ed mixture, alternately with milk, combining lightly after each addition. Turn batter into prepared pan. Bake in 350 degree oven about 1 hour. Meanwhile com- bine lemon juice and the 1/2 cup sugar, As soon as loaf is removed from the oven, drizzle with the lemon juice-sugar mix- ture. Let stand in pan on cake rack 10 minutes, then remove from pan. Cool completely.
