DUTCH APPLE PIE Mrs. John Love, Hanover We attended a banquet In St, Paul's Lutheran Church, NetiS- tacit, the other evening and Dutch Apple Pie was served for des- sert. Naturally comments were made and the lady across the table said "Sour cream really is the making of this pie", That was just the hint we needed and we asked for the recipe. She said "This is rather dif- ficult for the recipe doesn't come out of a recipe book but is one of those that are handed down from mother to daughter. "I'm afraid I'm one of those cooks who do not follow a recipe to a T but I'll put down the basic steps." 1 cup brown sugar depending on kind of apples and size of pie 1 small tbl flour Mix these two ingredients together. In an unbaked pie shell put a small portion of this mixture. Peel and slice apples and place over mixture, Mix 1 cup sour cream with remaining sugar and flour mix- ture and pour over the apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon, Mrs. Love says sweet cream may be used in place of sour and is good "but the sour cream is better".
