THE CHURCH IN INDIA The study on the "Church in India" was presented by Miss M, Ellis at the meeting of UCW unit 4 Thursday afternoon. "The work of all the Chris- tian churches goes forward in India" said Miss Ellis. "There are 11 million Christians there," Mrs. Pearl Shaddick and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell conducted the worship with the theme "Than- ksgiving." Miss Greta Larrimie favored with a piano solo. NORMAN LONG IeIPPEN The sudden death of Theodore Hauwert, 39, who was stricken with a heart attack occurred Wednesday while at work in the field. Born in Holland he came to Canada in 1952, worked inWal- laceburg and moved one year ago to the 8th con. Tuckersmith on the McMillan farm. He was of a cheerful nature, friendly and a good neighbor. Besides his wife he is survi- ved by four small children. The body rested at the Box Funeral Home, Seaforth, until Saturday morning, then to St. James Roman Catholic church with burial in St. James ceme- tery. Her six sons acted as pall- bearers and six grandsons as flowerbearers - Stuart, Glenn, Wayne, Gerald and Douglas Mc- Bride and Robert Beattie. Mr. Bill Shaddick, who has accepted a position with the De- pa,rtment of Highways at Lon- don, spent the weekend at his home here, with his mother Mrs. Pearl Shaddick. Guest speaker was John Strong, news commentator of CKNX radio and TV. He led the audience on a tour of the Station CKNX by picture on election night and told of the new building. He also showed pictures of trips he had taken. The speaker was introduced by Mrs. Vernon Alderdice and thanked by Mrs. Grant Mac- Lean. William Gibson of the B&J Beauty Shop demonstrated the arrangement of living room and dining room bouquets withflow- ers he had grown himself. He donated prizes to the oldest member present, Mrs. Alice Joynt, Hermit; to Mrs. Clay- ton Sims, Crediton, WI mern- ber for 45 years; to the young- est member, Mrs. Gerald Dear- ing, Crediton, and to the mem- ber having a birthday closest to the date, Mrs. Leonard Strong, Seaforth, whose birth- day it was.
