THE BLANSHARD MUNICIPAL TELEPHONE SYSTEM
The Blanshard Municipal Telephone System have requested from the Ontario Telephone Service Commission
an increase in Telephone Rates after cutover of the Kirkton Exchange to Dial in October 1964 as outlined
below.
Due to expense of convertingKirkton Exchange to Dial; a Debenture of $160,000 has been applied for from the
Township of Blanshard to cover our conversion programme.
Application has been made to the Ontario TelephoneService Commission for authority to make the following
charges for telephone service at the Kirkton Exchange, effective as at date of cutover to dial operation.

The above rates for individual and two-party line service will apply only within the Base Rate Area of the
Kirkton Exchange, which is defined as that area bounded on the North by a line parallel and one-half mile
North of the Exeter-St. Marys County Road, and on the south by a line parallel to and one and three-quarter
miles South of the Exeter-St. Marys County Road, and on the East and West by lines parallel to and one-half
mile east or west respectively of Highway No. 23.
If individual or two-party line service is required beyond the above limits, there will be an additional charge
for extra mileage of forty-five cents a month for each one-quarter mile or fraction thereof for an individual
line and twenty-five cents a month for each one-quarter mile or fraction thereof for each party on a two-
party line.
With the installation of dial equipment at Kirkton, a toll charge will no longer apply on calls to the St. Marys
Exchange, but the normal toll charge between Kirkton and Sebringville; Granton and Sebringville will have
to be re-established because the inter-exchange trunks will no longer exist.

former resident of the village
here. A few years ago he took
up residence in Toronto. He is
survived by his wife and one son,

FAREWELL PARTY
Last Wednesday evening, a
number of the friends of Mrs.
Annie Fairies, met at her home
to say farewell and to wish
her restored health, prior to
leaving her Market St., home to
go to live with her daughter,
Mrs. Douglas King of Harriston.
Mrs. Fairies was presented
with some personal articles by
her friends, as a slight token
of their good wishes.

Mr. W. G. Little, is now the
new superintendent in the Sun-
day School, succeeding Mr.
Frank Egan, who was trans-
ferred to Lucknow.
WINS MORE HONORS
Mr. Larry Lewis of Gran-
ton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clar-
ence Lewis, who recently won
first class honors in his first
year at UWO has won further
honors, in obtaining first class
honors in his Associateship of
Music, with the Western On-
tario Conservatory of Music.
Larry is well known in Lu-
can, for his father is one of
Lucan's barbers, and he him-
self has won many prizes in
vocal and piano, at the music
Festivals for a number of years.
He has also relieved at the
organ, in Holy Trinity Church
and at times assisted in the
choir.

The CGIT cook-out was rain-
ed out last Tuesday but 13 mem-
bers enjoyed an evening of bowl-
ing. The first regular fall meet-
ing will be September 16.
On Saturday 14 members of
the Lucan-Clandeboye Explor-
ers had their cook-out on the
church lawn. During the meet-
ing Ilene Donaldson, who had to
resign as a counsellor, as she
is attending Teachers' College,
was presented with a white
Bible in appreciation of her
faithful service.
The YPU met Sunday evening
and a committee was named to
bring in a slate of officers at
the meeting next Sunday.
