RECREATION NEWS
By Norman Carter
We had a VerY good ehew and
dance at the arena, and the
swimming Pool fund henefited by
the j)roceeds„ The port Sanilap
Choral Club gave a masterful
perfermance in their varied
program Of music. It was suit,
able to every taste., Judy ilas-
kett School of Dancing pupils
also.entertained with a very
creditable performance of dan-
cing routines, The Canadian
Playboys played for dancing and
not many of the crowd stayed
for the dancing, maybe it was
too hot for physical exertion.
However, the Arena Board wish
to express their thanks and
gratitude to the performers for
a job well done.
Speaking of the swimming
earlier, this will be a welcome
opportunity to inform everyone
of the type of program and fees
that will be charged. In so far
as the instruction periods are
concerned there will be four
sessions, each of two weeks
duration, with four classes in
each session. These sessions
will be for children and will
consist of 10 half hour lessons
one each day for two weeks.
These will commence on July 1.
Session 1, starts on July 1
and ends on July 12, regis-
tration for this session will be
on June 29 at 1:30 pm.

tion for this session will be on

tration for this session will be
on July 25 at 1:30 pm.
Session 4, starts on August
12 and ends on August 24, and
registration for this final ses-
sion will be on August 8 at 1:30
pm. On the day of registration
in each case the child will be
required to take a swimming
test so that he or she can be
better placed in a class accord-
ing to the skill level, There will
be adult instruction classes on
Tuesdays at 6:30 pm and Thurs-
days at 8:30 pm.
The fees for these classes
will be as follows: The first
child in each family $2.00 per
session. For each subsequent
child in the same family $1.00
per session, up to a maximum
of $5.00. Adult instruction fees
will be $3,00 per month. Apart

be open for recreational swim-
ming from 1 pm to 4:30 pm
Monday to Friday, and 7 pm
to 10 pm. All afternoon periods
Monday to Friday will be free
for children under 16 years of
age.
On Saturday 10 em to 12
noon, 1 pm to 5 pm and 1 pm
to 10 pm. Sunday 2 pm to 7 pm.
Except for the free swimming
afternoon periods for children
the charges will be children 10e

formation please phone the re-
creation office at Lucan Arena
