Here is a recipe for ice cream
sandwich:PP which children love
and so simple they can make
them themselves.
ICE CREAM SANDWICHRS
1/2 cup corn syrup
cepa crisp rice crispies
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 pt brick ice cream
Blend corn syrUp, and peanet
butter together. Add rice cereal
and stir until well coated. Press
mixture evenly into bottom of a
greased l3 x 9" pan, place in
freezer or coldest part of re-
frigerator until firm.
Cut into twelve 3" squares;
place a slice of ice cream be,
tween two squares and press
gently together. Serve. at once
or wrap in aluminum foil and
store in the freezer until need-
ed, If smaller servings are de-
sired, cut each sandwich into
2 bars, Yields six 3" ice cream
sandwiches or 12 bars.
Fora cool dessert try a par-
fait pie which gives you lots of
scope for flavor and fruit.
1 pkg jelly powder, any flavor
1 1/4 cups hot liquid
1 pint brick ice cream, any
flavor
1 1/2 cups drained sliced fruit
(fresh, canned or frozen)
9" pastry shell or crumb pie
crust.
Dissolve jelly powder in hot
liquid (water or water and juice)
in a 2 quart saucepan, add ice
cream by spoonfuls stirring un-
til melted.
Chill this mixture until thick-
ened but not set (10 to 30 minutes
depending on chilling tempera-
ture). Fold in drained fruit; turn
into prepared pie shell. Chill
pie until firm (about 10 to 30
minutes longer).
Garnish with additional fruit,
whipped cream or other suitable
decoration and serve in wedges.

Grandmothers were guests at
the meeting of Dashwood
Tuesday, June 4, with the his-
terical re search group in
charge and Mrs. Emil pecker,
convener.
A bus• trip was taken to Grand
Bend where they toured Pete
Eisenbach's museum.
Returning to the. community
centre Mrs. Sid Baker, presi-
dent, conducted the business.
On June 20 the ladies from this
district are taking a bus trip
to the officers' conference at
Guelph. The residents of Huron-
view are to be entertained on
July 17. The merry makers band
played several numbers.
HEAR ABOUT NIGERIA
The WSWS meeting of the
Dashwood EI,JB church was held
Thursday June 6. Rey. Philip
Gehm of Ohio, a missionary on
furlough from Nigeria, Africa,
where he has served three
years, was guest speaker. He
gave a brief talk and showed
slides which depicted the pri-
mitive people of that area, the
growing of the principal crop--
yams, the four aspects of the
church; education, religion,
medicine, and agriculture.
Mrs. Chas Snell, president,
presided for the business. The
annual Zurich, Crediton, and
Dashwood WSWS picnic will be
held in Dashwood, July 4. A
donation of money is to be sent
through "Care" to the uninfec-
ted children's home in Korea.

This week the General Food
Kitchens release recipes tor
uncooked strawberry rhubarb
jam.
STRAWBERRY RHUBARB JAM
3 cups prepared fruit (1 quart
ripe strawberries and 1 lb.
fresh rhubarb)
4 1/2 cups (2 lhs) sugar
1/2 cup water
1 box powdered fruit pectin
Crush thoroughly 1 quart
strawberries. Measure 2 cups
into large bowl. Grind very fine
(do not peel) about 1 pound
fresh rhubarb, Measure 1 cup
and set aside.
Measure sugar and set aside.
Mix water and powdered fruit
pectin in a small saucepan; add
rhubarb and mix well. Bring
to a boil and boil hard 1 min-
ute, stirring constantly. Add to
strawberries in large pan, stir-
ring well. Then add sugar and
stir briskly 3 minutes or until
most of the sugar is dissolved.
Ladle quickly into glasses or
freezer containers. Cover and
seal. Let stand 24 hours. Then
store.
RED RASPBERRY JAM
Raspberry jam may also be
made by the uncooked method.
File this recipe -- raspberries
will be ripe before you know it.
3 cups prepared fruit (about
1 1/2 quarts ripe red rasp-
berries)
5 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
1 box powdered fruit pectin
Thoroughly crush 1 1/2 qts.
fully ripe raspberries. (If de-
sired, sieve half of pulp to re- !
move some of the seeds.) Mea-
sure 3 cups into a large bowl.
Measure sugar, add to fruit,
mix well and let stand. Mix wa-
ter and powdered fruit pectin in
a small saucepan. Bring to a boil
and boil hard 1 minute, stirring
constantly. Stir into fruit mix-
ture, Continue stirring about 2
minutes. Lad 1 e quickly into
glasses. Cbver at once with tight
lids. Let stand at room temper-
ature 24 hours. Then store in
freezer. If jam is to be used
within 2 or 3 weeks, it may be
stored in refrigerator.
