Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Cun-
ningham attended the service on
Sunday May 12 at the Robinson
Memorial Church, Lendon. The
baptism service was conducted
by the minister the Rev. Moir
Waters. Tracy Denise, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cunning-
ham received the sacrament of
baptism.
Following the service the
grandparents were entertained.

On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Lynn and Diane visited Debbie,
who spent a week there, return-
ed home with her parents and

Mother's Day service Was
observed Sunday in St. Andrews
United Church with a good at-
tendance.
The choir of juniors rendered
two suitable numbers, with the
Leader Miss Ivison at the organ.
The scripture lesson was read
by Grant Jones, and Marjorie
Turner gave the story.

The death of Mr. Hugh Wilson
occurred in Windsor on May 6.
When a young man, he lived at
Greenway and attended Green-
way Methodist Sunday School
and church, later moving to
Parkhill.
Mrs. Walter MacPherson
died in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, where she had been a
patient.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hons-
berger of Vineland spent the
weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Hicks.
Miss Lynne Brophey of Lon-
don spent last week with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Brophey.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold McDon-
ald visited Sunday with Rev. and
Mrs. Southcott of Oil City.
Mr. Donald MacPherson of
Hamilton spent the weekend with
his father, Mr. Walter Mac-
Pherson.
The death occurred recently
in Detroit of Ed. Matthews. He
will be remembered by several
people in this vicinity when he
used to visit his cousin, the
late Mrs. W. T. Ulens.

A successful Dog Show was
held at the arena Saturday,
sponsored by the Forest City
Kennel Club, A fairly large
crowd was in attendance and
some wonderful specimens of
the canine world were exhibited.
The best dog in the show
was a Kerry Blue Terrier own-
ed by Mr. and Mrs. H. Betts,
RR 1 Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Other results will appear else-
where in this newspaper.
The major event this week is
the annual Music Festival,
sponsored by the Lucan Home
and School Association. This
function winds up on Friday
night with a concert given by
the various winners in their
groups. It is hoped that all mu-
sic lovers will make up a large
crowd to attend on that night.
The peewee and midget base-
ball teams have been entered
in the WOAA baseball league,
and yours truly will be attend-
ing a schedule meeting in Wing-
ham this week and the schedule
will be published just as soon
as it is available, As far as the
Other groups are concerned a
local league will be formed pro-
vided there are enough coaches
for these kids,
A monster fireworks display
is on tap at Lucan Arena at
dusk on Monday next, May 20.
By all accounts from the com-
mittee organizing this event it
will be larger than any fire-
works event ever held in Lilco.
It is also hoped that a Midway
will be in attendance to add to
the holiday festivities.
On Friday May 24 a fabulous
show and dance will be held at
the arena, featuring Hazel Me-
Kirdy, Canada's youngest re-
dording star. Among her suc-
cesses IS the recording "To
the ends Of the world". She has
alSO appeared on television in
Toronto, Kitchener and Buffalo
and she is appearing in the
CNE Grandstand showthie year.
On the same show will be jiminy
Merril and The 'Viscounts.

elected president, Mrs, Alan
Hill.
Roil call was answered by
naming ''my favorite maga-
zine." Mrs. J. H. Paton read
the scripture.
Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Alex Mac-
intosh, Mrs. Norman Hardy and
Mrs, Albert Rosser were named
delegates to the District An-
nual at Ivan on May 23, An in-
vitation was received from
Granton WI to view the pictures
shown by Mrs. George Wilson.
A $5 trophy was on display to
be donated at the music fes-
tival, Lucan.
After the business court whist
was played with Mrs, Wes At-
kinson winning high score and
Mrs. Arnold Blake, the consola-
tion price.
A white elephant sale with
Mrs, Omar Cunningham as auc-
tioneer made quick work of ar-
ticles brought by members in-
cluding asparagus, tarts, bulbs,
plants and home made bread.

ALFRED KILMER
Alfred Edmund Kilmer, RR 1
Clandeboye, V, died suddenly
at Craigholme, Ailsa Craig,
on Monday, May 13. He bad
lived there for the past year.
He was born atIVIalahide near
Aylmer and following his mar-
riage to Annie Bertha Simpson
in 1904 farmed on Con. 2 Mc-
Gillivray Township. His wife
predeceased him in 1947.
Surviving are one son, Ar-
nold Kilmer at home; two bro-
thers, Leonard Kilmer, Cor-
inth, James Kilmer, Aylmer.
He was predeceased by three
sisters.
Funeral services were con-
ducted by Rev. D. M. Guest
of Centralia UC at the Murdy
funeral home, Lucan, on Wed-
nesday, May 15 with interment
in St. James Cemetery, Clan-
deboye.
CHURCH NEWS
At St. James Church on Sun-
day the service was held at
9:45 am starting the summer
change from 2:30 pm. The rec-
tor conducted the service of
Holy Communion.
The white mums on the table
at the altar were givenin mem-
ory of Karl O'Neil and Cecil
Carter by their nephew Louis
and nieces Clarise and Mary
O'Neil of Pennisbau.
The service was in obser-
vance of Mother's Day.
