months in jail for nriving while
his licence was suspended by
Magistrate A. F, Cook, Strat-
ford, here Tuesday,
Willis Pesiardine, 2 20 Plead-
ed guilty to driving in Stephen
township on March 8 after hav-
ing been disqualified as a result
of an earlier accident. lie had
several other previous traffic
convictions against him.
Magistrate Cook: "Why did

Clayton Van Aistine0 22, Ex-
eter„ paid a $50 fine for danger-
ous driving which involved lead-
ing police on a 90 mph chase
from here to Liman, March 1.
Police said the man made a
V-tnrn in Exeter in the built-
up area, nearly struck another
car, then drove to Lucan through
heavy traffic at 90 mph. There
was no accident, said PQ D. M.
Westover and town constable
Lloyd Hodgins, who chased the
car.
Van Alstine said he tried to
escape police because he was
frightened. "Don't you know the
police are your friends if you
are not in the wrong?", asked
the magistrate.
Defence counsel James Don-
nelly, Goderich, asked that Van
Alstine's licence not be sus-
pended because he was a truck
driver.
Ivan Webber, 45, RR 1 Hay,
was fined $40 and costs on a
careless driving charge result-
ing from an accident at Hen-
sall March 7. Webber, turning
onto No. 4 from the village main
street, said he turned too wide,
collided with another car caus-
ing $2,800 damage.
PC George Mitchell said
there was some evidence of
drinking by Webber but not
enough to warrant impairment.
"Did you ever think the odd
drink you had may have had
something to do with it" asked
the magistrate. "No," replied
Webber.
PAY $5 FOR PRANK
Three local men--William
McFalls, Robert Scott and
Lorne Keller--paid $5.00 each
for driving down the CNR tracks
from Hensall to Exeter Sunday,
March 24. They were charged
with trespassing on r ail way
property.
