of the program were the reading
of the minutes of the organiza-
tion meeting in 1948 by
Jackson. Woods and a talk ac-
companied by pictures by Miss
Marjorie Papple, Seaforth, one
of five Ontario girls who at-
tended the British Food Fair
with Hon William Stewart, Min-
ister of Agricillture, last fall.
"Although confusing at first
we soon got as fast as the
British girls in handling shil-
lings and pence" ' said Miss Pap-
ple as she showed pictures of
the booths in which the Ontario
girls sold or gave samples of
tomato juice, cheese and to-
bacco and promoted the use
of Canadian foods abroad. "The
English people were loath to be-

lieve that Ontario was warm
enough to grow tobacco
peaches," said Miss Papple.
One of the five girls was the
Ontario pie halting champion and
she baked and sold pies in one
of the booths. The Ontario ex-
hibit was a small part of the
food fair as many other coun-
tries from all over the world
also had displays.
Each of the five Ontario girls
had received provincial honors
in 4-H homemaking projects,
Miss Papple having completed
14 courses, She is active in
Junior Farmers and Junior In-
stitute and is presently teach-
ing at SS 3 Tuckersmith, She
was introduced by Mrs. Delmer
Skinner and thanked by Mrs.
Jim Miller.
After their duties at the food
fair the girls journeyed into
Scotland to visit Miss Ann Stew-
art, who visited in this locality
with the Junior Farmers, and
whose father has „a 1,509 acre
farm.
