to observe the World Day of

Friday afternoon.
"More Than Conquerors"
was the theme of the service.
Mrs. Ross McFalls, UCW pre-
sident, led the service and de-
livered the address. Mrs. Mar-
ian Haggart was the soloist with
Mrs. Janet Last as her accom-
panist. The offering was taken
by Mrs. J. Essery and Mrs.
Elmer Powe.
Piano and organ music for
the service was provided by
Mrs. Alvin Essery and Mrs.
Kenneth Hodgins. A social hour
followed the service.

Fifteen military attaches from 12 foreign countries viewed officer
selection and training facilities at RCAF Station Centralia, Mon-
day and Tuesday. They arrived at 6 pm Monday night, were wel-
comed by G/C L. H. Randall, station CO, and were guests of the
officers and their wives Monday evening. Tuesday, they toured
the station and were briefed as to unit functions by W/C G. C.
Peek, OC officers' school; S/L F, E. McLaren, OC, flying school,
S/L W. Cottname, OC selection unit. They left for Ottawa Tues-
day afternoon. The attaches, shown above, came from Italy, Ar-
gentina, Spain, Germany, U.S.A., Greece, Netherlands, Turkey,
Colombia, New Zealand and Finland.

Walter Weber and Roy Dietrich,

Mrs, Arnold McCann and Bob
Clarke.
Mrs. Ada McDonald read the
address to the young couple and
Mr. Ross Pickering, on behalf
of the neighbors and members of
the school section, presented
them with a gift, Mr. and Mrs.
Clarke thanked all in a few
words. Following the presen-
tation, lunch was enjoyed. Mrs.
Clarke is the former Joanne
Hartley, daughter of Mrs. Ethel
Hartley and the late Mr. Hart-
ley of Petrone.
Mr. Clarke is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. George Clarke, Dash-
wood. He is a University of
Western Ontario graduate and
is at present teaching in St.
Clair High School in Sarnia.

Glen Conservation Area near
Arkona, on Highway No. '7, the
Thedord Conservation Area on
Highway No. 21, Lucan Conser-
vation Area, on the Little Aus-
able River, and the Morrison
Dam Conservation at Exeter.
New parking lots, the exten-
sion of the present road system,
the construction of bridges, the
establishment of nature trails,
the installation of bumper posts,
work in playground areas, fen-
cing will be carried out in these
four conservation areas, this
work is part of the authority's
program in providing certain
recreational facilities in the
Ausable River Watershed,

trip visiting cathedrals, chapel
outdoor services in the south.

Mr. William Darling was ta-
ken to South Huron Hospital,
Exeter on Friday afternoon by
the Haskett ambulance of Lucan.
He was improved on Monday.
He has pneumonia, Mr. and Mrs.
Lou Fisher of Detroit spent the
weekend with Mrs. Darling also
visited Mr. Darling in hospital.
Mrs. Tom Collins is ill at
her home in the village. Her
sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Hornell are
staying With her.
Mrs. Jim Sigsworth, a patient
for three weeks in St. Joseph's
Hospital, is much improved.
Mr. Austin Bice, returned
home on Sunday afternoon after
spending over a week in St.
Jospeh's Hospital.
Mrs. Andy Paton and son
Ronald Paton of Nanton, Alber-
ta and Mr. Earl Paton Of Lon-
don called on the Paton family
last week.
Mrs. Almer Henry had her
daughter Mrs. Bill DOwningand
granddaughter Joan of Chatham
to spend Saturday and Sunday
with her. On Monday, the Rev.
L. C. and Mrs. Harrison were
guests from London.
Mrs. Wilmer Scott held a
quilting bee with Mrs. William
Luther, Mrs. Lawrence Hea-
man, Mrs. Alex Maclnosh and
Mrs. Almer Henry as quilters.
Mr. and Mts. Stewart Gen-,
ningham and family, have moved
from Mr. George Simpson'S
Muse to near Walladeburg on a
farm.
