As "open house", continues until Feb. 16, Mrs. Radcliffe hopes those, who were disappointed on Saturday will return to see her new decora- tions and to take advantage of her sale. FORMER LUCANITE WINS $50 Mrs. Elmer Davis, of London, the former Edna Hodgins of Alice St. Lucan, was one of the five Dominion Store Domino bingo winners last week, win- ning $50. On Thursday the five ladies competed for the $500. Each lady had to cut out a ground- hog from a, large piece of cardboard. One was drawn and placed to cast a shadow on a rug. All the ladies had to do was estimate the length of the shadow. A Sarnia woman was the winner, Mrs. Tom Weller's cousin, Mrs. Rorald Luckings of London won the $500 last week. LOB The LOB held a successful eight-table Euchre at the lodge room here last Wednesday eve- ning. Mrs. George Davis (Exeter) and Mr. William Brownlee won high score prizes. Lone hand prizes went to Mrs. Rose At- kinson and Mr. Pat Ryan and low scores prizes to Mrs. Harry Bond and Mr. Cecil Neil. Tom- my Ryan won the box of gro- ceries. The next game will be held Feb. 20 and will be sponsored by the LOBA. Garrett of Edgewood, township, director of the Mid- dlesex Federation, was one of the speakers at a London meet- ing called by the London Town- ship Federation of Agriculture, last Wednesday night to voice the disapproval of the members of the Federation and other area farmers on the PUC well- drilling plans. Angry'farmers claimed their wells were being drained and of having to haul water. Mrs. Gar- rett was also one of those at- tending the meeting. The UCW ladles served refresh, inents, Active in church, dies in London Funeral services were held for Mrs, Annie Laura Cunning- ham, 80, wife of the late Moore Cunningham, who died in Lon- don, on Wednesday, Febraury 6. The body rested at the Murdy funeral home in Lucan, where the service was held on Friday February 5, with the rector, the. Rev, E. O. Lancaster of St, James Church officiating. Mrs. Cunningham was born in McGillivray township, daughter of the late William and Mary Lewis of a family of three girls. Mrs. Morgan (Addle) Dixon and Mrs. Clarence (Agnes)Sholdice all deceased. She was a former active member of the choir, WA and Guild of St. James Church. She is survived by two ne- phews, Earl and Wilfred Dixon of McGillvray township and three nieces. Mrs. John (Olive) Batson, Gorrie; Mrs. George (Laura) Lackie, Kitchener and Mrs. Bill (Inez) Downing of Chatham, also three cousins, Mrs. Gertie Harris, Greenway, Edgar Lewis, Toronto and Miss Hazel Lewis, McGillivray town- ship. Pall bearers were Wilfred Cunningham, Roy Gibson, Andy Carter, Earl Dixon, Wilf re d Dixon and Maurice Simpson. Temporary entombment was in the mausoleum, with inter- ment in St. James cemetery at a later date. The music was supplied by Cliff Brock orchestra of Credit= Former resident dies in Cleveland The death of a former resi- dent of McGillivray township, Mrs. Mary Carpenter, widow of the late Clayton Carpenter of Cleveland occurred on Sun- day, February 10 at her home there in her 83rd year. Born in McGillivray township daughter of the late William and (Ellen Bradley) Lewis. She was the last of a family of six: Mrs. Charles (Jennie) Holland, Mrs. Alfretta. Bice, Will and John Lewis and Ida Lewis. Prior to her marriage in Nov. 1914 she resided in London a few years. Since that time she has resided in Cleveland. She is survived by one son, Frank Carpenter, and one grandson in Cleveland and seven nephews and two nieces. Funeral services were held on Wednesday with interment in Cleveland, Ohio. CHURCH NEWS On Sunday February 10, at the United Church, the minister, the Rev. G. W. Sach took es his sermon "The Threatening Storm". An invitation was issued for any one desiring to join the church membership class to contact the minister. Flowers were placed in memory of Mrs. T. Lee and Mr. J. H. Whitmore. On Septuagesima Sunday, February 10 at St. J ames Church, the rector, the Rev, E. 0. Lancaster, welcomed a former member the Rev. Stan- ley G. Tomes, now rector of St. Peter's Church, Big Trout Lake, who was celebrant for the service of Holy Communion and gave the sermon GENSIS. He was. born in Kiaglynn, Norfolk, England, Dec. 6, 1108., coming to Canada in 1910. In 1912 he married Grace Pape and lived at Coliingwood, later coining to the village here, till they moved to Lucan arc's, sing. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in August 1962. The body rested at the Mur- dy funeral home in Lucen t where the funeral service was held on Saturday afternoon, February 9th with the rector the Rev„ E.O. Lancaster officiating, He was a member of St. James Church. He is survived .by his widow and four sons and two daughters Robert of London, (Florence) Mrs. Palmer Coombes, Lon- don; William of Sarnia, John Jr., Clandeboye, Ba.yle and Fred at home and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were George Hindmarsh, Rae Hodgins, Alex Macintosh, Jim Riddell, Andy Carter and Mike Bell of London. Jim Sigsworth entered St. Joseph's Hospital, on Sat- urday, February 9. Mrs. Murray Carter has re- turned home from St. Joseph's Hospital. Jimmy Paton is still a patient in the War Memorial Children's Hospital, London. Mr. varl Paton of London visited his brother J. H. Paton, who is improving at his home, on Monday. Mrs. Bill Downing of Chat- ham and the Rev'. L. C. and Mrs, Harrison of London, at- tended the funeral of the late Mrs. Moore Cunningham on Friday afternoon and later vis- ited with Mrs. Almer Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Amelia Fischer and Mr. Jake Fischer of Dash- wood, visited the Jim Sigsworth family last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Carter entertained Mr. and Mrs. Mal- colm Allison, West McGillivray and Mr. and Mrs. Don Housen of West Lorne, on Saturday evening. PERSONALS Rev. FOWLIE Mrs. George Fovtlie, a for- mer resident of the village died Suddenly at the home of her daughter, Miss Eleanor Fowlie, Quebec, on Feb. 2.
