Anniversary
Marking the 50th anniversary
of the organization of the Logic
Circle at Caven church the WIV1S
gathered for a pot luck dinner
on Momiay at the church fol-
lowed by an appropriate pro-
gram.
Mrs. H. Rivers read the char-
ter roll call for the Logie
Circle in 1913. Of the 20 mem-
bers only four of the 12 mem-
bers still living were present:
Mrs. Reg Knight, Mrs. Charles
Harris, Mrs. Jack leycld and'
Mrs. Rivers,
Mrs. William Sillery, who
presided for the program, gave
a resume of the early meetings.
The Circle was organized by
Miss Jean S, Murray for the
young women of the church and
was named after the first Pres-
byterian minister in Exeter,
Rev. Logie. The Circle dis-
banded at the time of Union
and was absorbed Into the WMS.
Mrs. Rivers read the minutes
of the first meeting of the new
missionary group.
The same hymn was sung as
at the first meeting and Mrs.
Amiel Willard played as a piano
selection a hymn sung by Mrs.
James Foote, a former Caven
minister's wife, at a Circle
meeting. Mrs, Norman Stanlake
favored with a solo accompanied
by Mrs. J, Boyne. Letters from
former members were read.

was in the chair for the general
meeting when a report of the
an nu al Presbyterial meeting
held at Stratford January 11
was given by Mrs. H. Strang,
Mrs. Alvin Moir and Mrs. Ers-

being celebrated in Montreal
in May 1964 for which reser-
vations are requested by April
30 1963. Sending a delegate

A Stratford constable report-
ed Campbell had been convicted
previously of drunk driving and
his licence had been suspended
for an indefinite period. The ac-
cused had been charged on many
other oceasions during the last
three years and had been given
jail sentence.
Campbell was presented with
a copy o/ a long list of con-
victions and asked if they were
his. "'That's me all right," he
told the court.

investigating officer.
PAYS FOR ASSAULT
Milton Lawless, 22, aLondon
soldier, was fined $25 and costs
by Magistrate Hays for assault-
ing Reginald Dick, of Hansen,
December 28.
Lawless, who has had a good
record for four years in the
army, was ordered to post a
$200 bond and his sentence was
remanded until March 12 on
another charge of c au s i ng
damage.
Said Magistrate Hays: "I do
not understand why you would
risk your good record in the
armed forces by attacking one
of the Queen's subjects. You are
being trained to attack the ene-
mies of the Queen."
The magistrate said it was
"about as bad an exhibition as
I've heard for some time."
Lawless, under infleence of
alcohol, had damaged dishe s
while eating at the Dick home at
Hensall. A guest there, Frank
Thom, London, agreed to take
him back to the city, which he
proceeded to do in company with
Reginald Dick. Before they got
out of Hensall, Lawless had
kicked out the windshield in the
car and he was treated in Exeter
hospital, Damage aniounted to
about $140.
Frank Kintz, 22, RR 1 Cen-
tralia., was fined $20 and cOsts
over a December 30 collision at
the intersection of No. 4 and
the Mt. Camel road. Metz
attempted tO overtake a vehicle
when the road WAS not suitable
for passing and collided head-
on with anOther car. He pleaded
