The new figure skating class-
es got under way on Wednes-
day of last, week. Both the
Women's Auxiliary of the Lucan
Legion and myself were very
gratified to see the overwhelm-
ing response for this activity.
Miss Campion, the instructress,
was also pleased to see the large
number of pupils attending, If
the attendance remains the
same as the first week, we
should see quite a show when
it is put. on at the end of their
12-week period.
Although a report of the Lu-
can Santa Claus parade will ap-
pear elsewhere. in this news-
paper, feel I should have my
two cents worth and congratu-
late the Lucan Businessmen's
Association. for a job very welt
done, Apart from the work put
in by these men a great deal
of hard work was done by the
people who built the floats,
made the costumes and partici-
pated in the procession. As well
as floats sponsored by local
stores there were individual
floats from Pre-Teen Town,
Boy Scouts, Lucan Public
School, Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 540, Lucan Lions Club,
Women's Auxiliary of Canadian
Legion Branch 540, These last
four floats emphasized both the
hockey and figure skating pro-
grams in Lucan.
Future activities Fri-
day next, Young Peoples' dance
at the arena; Tuesday next,
Lucan Juniors play host to
Strathroy at 8.30 p.m. Wednes-
day next, Pre-Teen Town Christ-
mas dance at the. arena also
figure skating classes com-
mencing at 6:00 p.m.

house League for next Satur-
day: Pee Wees, 2.3 p.m., Can-
adians vs. Red Wings; 3.4 p.m.,
Hawks vs. Maple Leafs ; 4.5
p.m, Bruins vs. Rangers; Ban-
tams, 5.6 p.m., Bisons vs. In-
dians; 6-7 p.m., Hornets vs.
Orioles; Midgets, 7-8 p.m„
Beavers vs. Maroons.
The next start for the Lucan
Legion Pee Wees, Bantams and
'Midgets in the Shamrock league
will be in Belmont on Friday,
Dec. 21 at 7 pm,.
A reminder to all you good
people to get behind these jun-
iors and buy a ticket for their
dance on December 21.

ganize a table tennis club in
Lucan for both juniors and
Mrs. R. Downey
interred in Ohio
Mrs. Robert W. Downey, 64,
of Main St., Lucan, died sud-
denly at her home, Friday, Dec,
7,
Mrs. Downey, the former
Eleanor Peters, was the daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and. Mrs.
James Peters of Mount Brydges.
She and Mr, Downey moved to
Loran 1.2 years ago.
She is survived by her hus-
band, one daughter Mrs. :Rob-
ert (Bessie Mary) Evans and
three grandchildren, Sandra,
Karen and Nancy Evans of
Tallmadgc, Ohio; also two sis-
ters, Mrs. Bruce Thompson and
Mrs. Alice Irwin, both of Mount
Brydges,
On Monday, Dec. 10, the Rev.
G. W. Sach of the Lucan United
Church, conducted funeral serv-
ices at the C. Haskett & Son.

Crown Hill cemetery, Darrow-
ville, Ohio.
