15 The winning marker of the
15 game came late in the final
14 stages when Whiting picked up
1" his second touchdown on a 20-
yard romp around the end to
7 up the score to 12-6..
5 in the final game of the regu-
3 tar season, the Valiants main-
tained-their winning form with
a close 14.12 win over the Pon-
tines in a see-saw battle,
The winners opened the scar•
ing with a single point on a
kick by Ron Broderick and up-
ped their margin to 7-0 when
Fred Simmons went over from
the one-yard marker for a
touchdown,
Pontiacs fought back quickly
with Melvin Whiting tossing a
10-yard. pass by Bev. Prest to
whittle the lead to 7.6, but Bro-
derick returned the kickoff all
the way for a major to up the
lead to 13-6 for he Valiants,
However; once again the los-
ers fought back when Prest
scored his second major on a
52-yard run to reduce the lead
to 13-12.
But the Valiants held onto
their slim lead and added an
insurance point when Brode-
rick kicked another single.
