Any, Meetings Are being eon-
tinuously :held. to seek advan-
tageous way- of bettering the.
local minor hockey picture.
At a meeting In Lupe. last
Thursday evening, the newly
formed Exeter Minor Athletic
Association .entered three sure
starters, with a possible fourth,
in the She m r e c k Hockey
League, Representatives Rev.
Bret) De Vries, Gerd Baynham
and yotirs truly from the local
association entered pee wee,
bantam • qe.l midget teams.
There is a strong chance that
a second midget entry will also
participate.
This was the initial move by
the new association and we feel
it was a good one, Plans for
our own house league setups
should be made public in the
very near future, as meetings
are being held this week.
By the way, anyone interested
in coaching, managing, referee-
ing, being a statistician or help-
ing in any other way, is asked
to contact me as soon as pos-
sible. We have had plenty of
response to our first call for
help but we can still use some
More.
The more active people can
become in our program, the
better it will he for everyone.
The kids love the winter sport
and we're sure any adults who
participate will also get a
charge out of it, So, please don't
hesitate to give us a call. We'll
be waiting to bear from you.
Teen Town Club
The Exeter Teen Town Club
held two meetings this week,
Main reasons for the two get-
to-gethers were to outline plans
for the coming season and in•
stall officers.
A local policy with the Teen
Town organization is that of-
ficers serve a two-year term,
With this being the case, the
majority of executive position.s
remained the same for this sea-
son,
Serving his second year term.
is president John Snell who did
such a fine job in '61.'62. First-
year term members include
vice-president Kathy Smith;
treasurer, Bonnie Turvey; re-
cording secretary, Laura Mac-
Milian; corresponding secre-
tary, John filacNaughton; and
promotion chairman, Gary Wed-
lake,
First dance
The first Teen Town dance is.
slated for this Friday night at
the ESeter Arena, The Septem-
ber 28 show will be a record-
hop. A second record-hop will
take place on October 12:
Tentative plans were made for
a skating party and a Hal.
loween dance,
We feel that, the local young-
sters working on this executive
did a fine job last year in help-
ing to build up their organiza-
tion practically from scratch.
Close to 187 members took part
in various events operated by
the local teen town group last
season and it looks as though
even more will participate this
year.
So if you haven't got your
season's ticket for this season,
purchase one as soon a pos-
sible from the executive. Tickets
are only 500 for the season,
Minor Bowling
Minor bowling teams will be
formed next week at the Exeter
alleys,
The registration fee of 250,
the same as last, year, will be
used again with FREE bowling
for the first week of the sehed.

over) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Because of the enormous re-
sponse by the boys And girls in
this area for bowling, coaches
are still being looked for Coach-
es are needed for Mondays from
4.0 p.m, and Saturday mornings
from 9,30 to 12 noon.
feast year close to .210 young-
sters participated throughout
the various leagues, so one can
see the importance of obtaining
some coaches. If yoti are at all
interested in helping out, please
contact Aub Farquhar at the
Exeter' alleys, Ruth Durand or
yours truly at the Recreation.
Office.
Square Dance Club
Ardent square dance enthusi-
ast Doug Grayer dropped us a
line to tell, us that the RCAF
Centralia Square and Round
Dance Club will start their fall
and winter season on Monday
evenings beginning October I,
from 8:30 to 10:30, p.m, Special
instruction is being provided
with classes being designed to
accommodate t h e beginner.
Dancing will. be held in the
Huron Park Community Centre,
next to the Station Guardhouse,
not on the station proper,
Mr. Grayer extends a cordial
invitation to everyone through-
out the district to join in the
fun, Registration closes on Oc-
tober 29,
Art Club
Efforts are being made to
secure a suitable art instructor
from London. Because of the
loss of Mrs. Ashton, who taught
a class of around 18 last year,
it will be necessary to bring
an instructor in from London.
We have word that Mr. Jack
Chambers is keenly interested
in teaching the local group, Mr.
Chambers has had painting ex-
perience in Spain as well as in
Canada. We should have further
information by this time next
week.
