The bride is the daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. William Hender-
son, Arva, and the groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. F,
Morkin, RR 3 Lucan. The Rev,
Fr. L. J. Flynn officiated,
The bride chose a cocktail
length gown of white French
brocade, styled with a scoop
neckline and three-quarter
length sleeves. A rhinestone
tiara held her illusion fingertip
veil and she carried a prayer
book crested with white roses
and rosebud .streamers.
Stanley Harrison was
matron of honor for her sister,
wearing a cocktail-length gown
of imported gold brocade. The
flower girl, Michelle Aziz was
dressed in olive green velvet.
Nesbitt Markin was grooms-
man for his brother and guests
were ushered by Peter Hender-
son. brother of the bride, and
Thomas Morkin, brother of the

At a reception held at the
home of the bride's parents, the
bride's mother received in dusty
rose ensemble with feathered
hat and matching corsage,
'Following the reception the
bride changed to a blue knitted
suit with antique white acces-
sories for a wedding trip to
New York state.

Lucan's new recreation direc-
tor and arena manager is Nor-
man Carter, Belleville, where
he spent the past nine years
in the recreation dep't,
He is particularly interested
in minor and junior hockey,
baseball, softball, teen-town,
senior citizens and summer play-
grounds.
As a younger man he was a
competitor in Olympic Games in
London in 1948 (track and field),
As a result he was called upon
to organize a junior track and
field club in Belleville.
More recently he was on the
executive of the Ontario Soccer
Football Association, a founder
member of the executive of the
Belleville Minor Sports' Associa-
tion, a member of the Interna-
tional Federation of Physical
Culture and the local judo club,
Mr. Carter was horn in Eng-
land 39 years ago. He is mar-
ried with three children. Valerie
wilt he attending Medway and
Robert, the Lucan Public School.
His other daughter will remain
in Belleville as Ontario Hydro
secretary.
Mr. Carter and family are
members of the Anglican
church.
As a new man in the com-
munity, Mr. Carter is looking
forward to meeting and mak-
ing many friends in Lucan and
asks for the co-operation of all
those interested in recreational
and arena activities.

Wallace Featherston. 57, pro-
prietor of the -Elgin Motel, El-
ginfield, died on Friday, Aug,
24 In St, Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don.

Imperial Bank in Woodstock,
and 20 years as an accounant
in Stanfield Automotive, Lon-
don, before coming to Elginfield
and taking over the Elgin Motel.

in poor health for some time
and seriously ill since last
March. He was hospitalized in
St. Joseph's Hospital for 12
weeks prior to his death.
Mrs, Featherston's plans for
the future are indefinite. For
the present, with the assistance
of her three daughters, she is
going to continue operating the
Elgin Motel at Elginfield.
Legion cenotaph
The footings for the new Le-
gion cenotaph, beside the Le-
gion Hall, have been completed
and it is hoped the base, which
will be faced with angel stone,
will be erected this week,

members of the CGIT completed
painting the church kindergar-
ten chairs.
Rev. G. W. Saeh, who has
been on vacation for a month,
was in charge of the 11 o'clock
service on Sunday. The timely
theme-of his sermon was "Back
to Work". There was a good

PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS
Eight members of the con-
gregation attended the Teen,
Camp at Stayner from Monday
to Friday, last week, and re-
mained over for the long holi-
day weekend Youth Retreat.
Among those attending the
latter were Rev. and Mrs. E. A.
Gagnon, Mrs. Clayton Abbott
and Linda, Mrs. Jim Mugford,
Miss Lorraine Graham, Ruth
Frost and John Armitage.
The Lucan choir, led by the
pastor, sang Saturday evening
for the Life Liners' rally, Sun-
day morning and evening and
also at a special missionary
meeting in the afternoon. Mon-
day was given over partially to
a sport program,
Meanwhile at home Mr. Ed
Butler took the morning Sunday
service with Mrs. Hugh Burtch
leading in the music and Mr.
Meine Eizenga took the eve-
ning service with Airs. Eizenga
leading in the music.
Twice honored
Most people are satisfied with
one birthday celebration, but
not Mrs. Ernest Kennedy of Lu-
can. On August 21 Mrs. James
Duncan of Brantford, a fellow
cottager at Colpoy Bay enter-
tained at her cottage to a buf-
fet luncheon.
Among the dozen or more
guests were Mrs. Kennedy's
mother, Mrs, Charles Johnson,
of Belmont and her sister, Mrs,
George Garden and two chil-
dren of Tillsonburg, who were
visiting her at the time.
Mrs. Duncan, with her keen
sense of humor, received at the
door in a huge garden hat,
grotesquely decorated with tur-
key feathers and plastic flow,

On returning home to Luean,
Mrs. Kennedy's daughter-in-
law, Mrs. Glen Kennedy, held
the second celebration at her
home August 27, by entertaining
10 of Mrs. Kennedy's neighbors
to afternoon tea.

WI and friends have received
an invitation to attend, indi-
vidually or as a group, the four-
week exhibition staged by Mr,
and Mrs. James Clennell of the
ceramic art studio at scenic
Pineeroft on Lake Erie.
The work of a score of the
finest craftsmen of Canada is
on display—pottery, Clay, wood,
tooling, water and oil paintings,
silk screenings, .greeting cards,
lamp shades, glass and tooled
pewter, are among the many
articles featured in this exhibi-

Arson charge withdrawn
John Brayman, 20, of London,
who was arrested in connection
with an attempted fire at Scott's
Elevator, Lucan, was remanded
to last Tuesday but the arson
charge was withdrawn at the
request of Crown Attorney C.
