first Canadian woman doctor,
for whom a plaque has been
placed at Mt. Pleasant, near
Brantford.
Mrs. Cunningham said that
no woman was allowed to en.
tee medical school in Canada
when Mrs. Stowe applied so
she obtained her degree at a
Quaker College in U.S,A. Later
her daughter was the first
woman to receive a MD from
'Toronto,University in 1883.
