On Friday evening the parish
hall was filled with relatives
and friends to pay honor to Miss
Shirley Atkinson, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Atkinson,
Centralia, whose marriage takes
place June 30.
Mrs. Herman Atkinson, aunt
of the bride-elect, and Mrs.
Hugh Davis were joint hostess-
es. The haThwas tastefully dec-
orated for the occasion. Shirley
received many beautiful and
useful gifts presented to her by
Heather Davis and Dorothy
Dickey. She was assisted in
opening them by Miss Marion
Heckman and Miss Joyce Mc ,
'Falls. Shirley thanked, all and
invited everyone to a trousseau
tea on Saturday, June 23 at the
home of her parents.
Blossom tea
The ladies of St. Patrick's
church held their annual blos-
som tea and bazaar on Wednes-
day, June 13 with, the largest
crowd on record.
Rev. Lyle Bennett welcomed
the ladies who were met at the
entrance by Mrs. Bennett and
Mrs. Earl Atkinson.
The bake sale and bazaar
were declared open at two
o'clock followed by the tea in
the parish hall, which was at-
tractively arranged with linen
covered small tables with small
bud vases of June flowers.
Large baskets of flowers were
on the platform.

Cooper's 'UCW h el d its
monthly meeting at the home
of Mrs. Robert Elston last
Thursday with 15 members and
two visitors present,
Mrs. Tom Coward and Mrs.
Austin Timms had charge of
the meeting and program. The
devotional was taken by Mrs.
Oliver Baker, Mrs. Jesse
Elston and Mrs. Coward.
The study book was taken by
Mrs. Timms from "Signals for
Sixties" and Mrs, Oliver Baker
from "Hasten the Day".
Mrs, William Spence gave a
reading on Citizenship and
Mrs, Nelson Baker gave a re-
port of the executive meeting
at Stratford of the Presbytery.
Mrs. Baker read an address
and presented Mrs. Harold
Berry, who has moved to St,
Marys, after being a member
of the WMS of Cooper's for 46
years, with a china pansy or-
!lament,
Mrs. McNaughton had charge
of the business after which a
social half hour was spent.
Two carloads of members of
Cooper's UCW attended the
tour and tea at Westminster
College in London last week.
