FACTS ABOUT TEACHERS
--Continued from page 11
the one-room schools have 15 teachers who are in their
first year of experience and 11 in their second year.
In the graded schools, which represent about one-half
the inspectorate, not one teacher without experience
was hired last September, The number of new teachers
hired for graded schools last year was only three, and
all hart had previous experience.

Opinions
— Continued from page 11
16 of a vote for a debenture to
be issued for a central school
or to stay with the present
schools, I hope that all proper-
ty owners will go lo 'the polls
and vote, Vote as you like
but vote,"
KENNETH J 0 H N 5, 'Vice.
Chairman, SHDES Board: (As
a ratepayer in Thames Road,
Mr. Jehns does not, have a vote
but his comments clearly indi-
cate his position) — "I am in
favor of supporting the efforts
of the dept of education to
provide better facilities, trans-
portation, vocational guidance,
physical education, better
training, safer transportation,
and better preparation for the
various areas of employment
which will require a higher
standard of education than in
the past."
REV. HUGH WILSON,
Thames Road and Elimville
tJC — "If I were a direct tax-
payer and had a vote, I would
vote in. favor of the proposed
central school for the follow-
ing reasons: • "1.. Where such central
schools have been established,
they have proved satisfactory
to the ratepayers, from the
points of view of efficiency and
economy.
"2. Central schools provide
opportunities for individual in-
struction in different grades
beyond that available in an
eight-grade classroom.
"3. I have confidence in our
minister of education and in
the educationalists in his de-
partment. If these men think
central schools serve our best
interests then I favor them,
"4. Above all, we want to
have the best educational pro-
gram that we can afford for
our children. This should come
first in our thinking, I believe
that a central school in Us-
borne would be an improve-
ment over local schools in
which all the grades are taught
by one or, as in one case, two
teachers,"
