Edwin Ferguson, director of
music at Waterloo-Oxford Dis-
trict High School, commended
the performance of the 212 pub-
lir school singers who per-
formed in the annual music
festival in Exeter, Tuesday,
"IL was an excellent pro-
gram", the adjudicator staled.
I enjoyed 0 very much."
The pupils from grades one
to eight competed in boys and
girls solo. duet and double trio
numbers in the program which
was carried on throughout the
entire clay.
The three top winner in each
of the 22 categories were
featured in a program present-
ed by the Home and School.
Association during the evening.
Top marks in the festival
were given in Kathy Bentley
an,d Eleanor Stanlake who each
attained 88 to win the special
prizes in the two girls divi-
sions. Ross Beaver won the
senior boys class with a mark
of 87, while Robert Whilsmith
and Bobby Read tied in the
junior class with 86 each.
The festival was under the
direction of Lawrence Wein
and Mrs. Fred Simmons and
Mrs. Bill Johnston acted as
chairmen. The secretaries were
Mrs. Arnold Lindenfield and
Mrs. Eric Heywood.
Principal Arthur idle acted
as chairman for the evening
program.
