ning. The worship service was
taken by Barbara Park, Judy
Scott and Robert Eaton. The

During the business session
it was decided to take a trip
to Greenville Village, Detroit,
with date to be decided later.
Plans were made for another
dance to he held in about two
weeks time when location can
be secured, it was decided to
hold a minstrel show practice
in the church schoolroom each

The first meeting of The
Messengers (the former Mission
Band) was held in the school
room last Monday at 4:15 p.m.

sisted by Mrs. J. W. Lockyer in
charge. There was an attend-
ance of 15. The Messenger's in-
cludes children from six to
eight years of age,

worth of Peterboro, representa-

Speaking on child health,
Miss Smith told of her duties
as a school nurse, the territory
she covered, the different cli-
nics held and of how parents
could co-operate with her in
improving the health of the
child. Though the attendance
was small, all .present entered
heartily into the lengthy "ques-
tion and answer" period which
followed her talk.
A copy of the booklet "Good
Food for Everyone", author-
ized by the Ontario Department
of Health and .prepared by the
Ontario 'Interdepartmental Nu-
trition Committee, was given
to all.

Two broomball games drew
a big hand of applause, ln the
first game, teachers and school
board vs. the firemen, Bert
Thompson was goalie for the
former and. Cecil Lewis for
the latter. Les Kennedy scored
the only goal, making the tea-
chers and school board the
winners and the team to face
the Legion, In the second
game Jack Ready was goalie
for the teachers and school
board and Cecil Lewis for the
Legion. Early in the genie Les
Kennedy again scored but jim
.Freeman of the Legion left no
doubt as to the winner, by
scoring three times.
The chariot race had to be
called off early in the race
when one of the drivers, Mike
Anderson, was thrown out of
his chariot while rounding a
corner and injured.
Other highlights of the eve-
n ings entertainment were two
comic skits, "The Boy's and
Their (girl Friend," and "Can
the Firemen Put Out the Fire",
a girls' skating routine and the
pre-teen town twist.
The Il&S executive are grate-
ful to the 19 business firms
who donated the prizes and to
all who helped to make the
evening a success.
Library meeting

Mr. Charlie Sovereign, met at
the library last Thursday eve-
ning for a special meeting to
discuss the pros and cons of
making the Lucan Library a
Public Library.
It was finally decided to at-
tend the April . council meeting
in a body, and see what could
be done.

Smokey, the Samoyed clog
sold by Mee, Eileen Currie of
the Brialin Kennels, Liman.,
and, sent to Moosonee, is now
serving in the mission field,
there.
Mrs. Currie, a member' of
the Lucan Pentecostal Holiness
Church h ere, was happy to
learn the purchaser of her dog
was Pastor Donald eic.Ewen, of
Moosonee, who is in charge of
a mission field of Indians in
that locality. The first time
Smokey was tried out in the
dog team he played out and,
rode home in state, on the
sleighs with his master.
McEwen is now nego-
tiating to buy another of Mrs.
Currie's Samoyed dogs, so
probably in the near future
Smokes, will be celebrating a
happy reunion with one of his
Lucan relatives, in the far
north mission field,.

teacher, Mrs. Charles Corbett,
visited the sugar camp of Mr.
Harold Corbett to see the pro-
cess of making maple syrup.

Mrs. Laura Blake, of Ailsa

Mrs. Gran Amos, was rushed
to hospital last week for treat-
ment for injuries received in
an accident at the home of his
parents.
