IN MEMORIAM
TYLER—In loving memory of
a dear husband, Pat Tyler,
who passed away one year
ago, March 13, 1961.
Lonesome here without you,
Pat,
I miss you more each day,
For life is not the same for
ine
Since you were called away.
If I had all the world to give
I'd give it, yes and more,
To hear your voice and see
your smile
And greet you at the door.
To you who have a husband,
Cherish him with care,
You'll never know the heart-
aches
Till you see his vacant chair.
—Lovingly remembered by wife

You can 'force'
spring flowers
How would you like to have
some spring flowers in your
house when it is still cold and
snowy outside?- What you have
to do, is "force" those trees
and shrubs that flower in the
spring and early summer. This
will break their "rest" period.
Here are some ideas from hor-
ticulturists with the Ontario
Department of Agricultre on
how to go about it.
Wait for one of those war-
mer winter days, when the
temperature is 30 degrees F.
or above. :elect some bran-
ches that are well supplied
with flower buds, as these will
give you the best results. Gen-
erally, the flower buds are
larger and of a different shape
than vegetative buds which
tend to be small and not so
plump.
The branches you select can
be of any convenient size, but
should not be over a half-inch
at their base.
Bring the branches indoors,
place them in lukewarm wa-
ter, and store them in a cool
room or cellar. When the buds
are plump, they may be
brought into a warm room to
bloom.
Two good plants to try this
month are forsythia and pussy
willow, as they are early
spring bloomers. Forsythia for-
ces easily, and may be placed
in a warm room at once.
Later blooming material
such as flowering cherry re-
quires more time for forcing,
but will force easily in March.
