Family Night a hit
We'd like to take this oppor-
tunity to express our sincere
appreciation to everyone who
helped support last Saturday
evening's '"Family Night Pro-
gram" at the Exeter Arena.
We are pleased to say that
the event was very successful
and that our minor hockey
program will he able to con-
tinue for the balance of the
season, Very close to $360 was
raised.
A special vote of thanks is
also extended to all the coaches
who came tip to direct their
teams; Pete Durand who did
a tremendous job in the equip-
ment room for the kids; ref-
erees Gary Parsons, Peter Do-
Vries and Cy Blommaert for
their part, and to Bill Gilfillan,
Al Smith and "floppy" Hop-
croft for coming out to help
with the nine-year-old-and-un-
der.
All in all, it was a good eve-
ning with every child thorough.-
),1, enjoying himself. Even the
parents displayed wide grins as
the youngsters tried to imitate
their favorite stars.
However, what makes the
whole idea even more a.stound-
ing, is that the ticket selling
episode by the participants
throughout the Minor Hockey
Eouse League teams, was all
One on the "merit" system,
No names were copied down
as to how many tickets each
person got Some sold 21 tick-
ets. Other sold 10 while still
others look from one In five
with them.
With only 250 tickets printed
for the event, it eerta:nly gives
one a wonderful feeling to
know that sonic $360 has been
turned in to date with more
still coming. From the way
the drive was put over with so
much honesty and sincerity by
the kids, it certainly is a real
credit to the youth of this com-
munity. We're proud of all of
YOU!
