but the proceedings were quite
different. A rigid inspection
taken by the leaders followed.
The Guides were noted on
their appearance, and their
faults must be corrected by
next meeting or the Patrol
will lose points. The uniform
must be in A-i condition as
they are worn to school on
February 22, Thinking Day,
and to the church parade on
Feb. 25,

ville 4-H Homemaking Club
"Country Pals" was held Mon-
day evening at the home of

Mrs. 'Allen Johns discussed.

tions on a pattern for shorts,
Mrs. Jaques told of the prepa-
ration of material and pinning
on the pattern to material.

monstrated making a couple of
kinds of cookies. Illness in the
family prevented her from
being at the meeting but she
has given us the recipes she
intended to use.
strip o' Chocolate Bars
6 cups puffed rice Cris
pies
1;4 cup butter
1/3 cup peanut butler
32 marshmallows
I pkg,, chocolate chipits
I.2 cup peanuts
Heat puffed rice at 350 de-
gree oven for 10 minutes, Pour
into greased bowl.
Melt butter, peanut butter
and marshmallows 'in double
boiler. Pour over puffed rice
and stir well.

mixture in greased 7x11" pan,
Cover with chiPits. Place in
330 degree oven for 2-3 min,
until chipits are soft., Remove
frem oven and spread chipits
with spatula. Sprinkle with
peanuts. Cover with remaining
puffed rice mixture. Cool and
cut in bars,

Nanaimo Bars
The other recipe was for
Nanaimo Bars the recipe for
which airs. Love says appeared
in this column a couple of
years ago but "We really like
it and I use this recipe a lot,"
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup white sugar
5 tbl. cocoa
1 tsp vanilla.
1 egg
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups graham wafer
crumbs
Place butter, sugar, cocoa,
vanilla and egg in pan over
tow heat, Stir until melted and
hike eastard. Watch closely to.
avoid burning.
Add crumbs, coconut and.
nuts .and press in 8" square
pan.
Cream 114 cup butter. Add 3
tbl milk which has been coins

ture in . pan, Let stand 15 initi-
ates to harden,
Melt 2 or 3 squares semis
sweet chocolate with 1 tbl but-
ter. Spread. over icing. Cut in
bars when set.
Chocolate Chip Crunch Balls,

1,4 cup butter
1/8 tp salt
2 cups icing sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 tp vanilla
314 cup chopped nuts,
Melt chocolate chips and
butter over low heat stirring
constantly. Remove front heat,
add salt; add sugar alternate-
