their first round in WOAA play-
offs, Saturday, when they bat-
tled their way to a hard-fought
6.3 win over Clinton in the
third game of their best-of-
three series.
The locals won the first
game and tied the second,
Peter Lawson, a husky de-
fensive stalwart on Red Load-
er's club, paced the attack in
the. win with three big tallies,
Single markers came off the
sticks of Barry Burnham, John
Loader and David Burke,
The teams battled to a 1,.1
However, it was short-lived
as Laurie CoRgthonn and John
Cooper worked the count to 3,3
for Clinton as they beet Toni
Glavin with a pair of unassist•
ed markers,
Gary Parsons, who played
a stellar game for the locals,
knotted the count at the 11:45
mark, but Clinton left the ice
at the end of the first stanza
with a 4.3 lead as Randy Clew
came back with his second at
the 14;35 mark,
Fred Wells evened things up
at the 6:00 minute mark of the
middle frame when he finished
off a play with Don Wright and
then Parsons came hack with
his second of the night at the
mid-way mark to give the Ex-
eter crew a 5.4 lead,
Clinton came back to tie it
up again at the '7:30 mark of
the final 20 minutes, but Allen
Thompson fired the winning
marker less than two minutes
later,
