the Canadian Bible Society
raised nearly $40,000 in its re-
cent campaign for funds, the
London office has announced.
The Exeter !ranch .collected
$800 to assist the world-wide
work of the society which is an
auxiliary to the British and
Foreign Bible Society.
Zurich community contri-
buted another 410.90; Crediton,
$83,20; Centralia, $50.00; Dash-
wood, $25,55 and !Mensal! $2.5.
The society says there is a
tremendous demand for the
Christian scriptures in many
parts of the world.
During the first nine months
of 1061., literally thousands of
copies were shipped to the
Congo, in inure than 300 pack-
ing boxes. Customs and gov-
ernment officials have assisted
the importation. and distribu-
tion of the scriptures amount-
ing to 29,919 Bibles, 49,-089 tee-
laments, 254,691 portions - an
increase of more than 155,000
volumes over the same period
